Motomaki - Boulder
Motomaki
Description
At Motomaki in Boulder's 29th Street, fast-casual sushi and customizable bowls — including a popular Kalbi Beef Bowl with kimchi — showcase fresh, high-quality ingredients via kiosk or cashier ordering. Regulars praise the flavors and variety, including non-fish options, while critics cite small portions, high prices, messy nori wraps, and occasional order or takeout/dine-in inconsistencies. Friendly staff and managerial responsiveness help, but it’s best for quick sushi lovers rather than big appetites or strict value-seekers.

This place is fantastic! I absolutely love the burritos. I appreciate that they offer both a kiosk and a cashier for ordering. The staff is very friendly, and the food is top-notch!
One of my favorite places! I really enjoy sushi, and this restaurant offers fantastic fresh options. You can choose to have your meals wrapped in nori seaweed or served in a bowl. They also have some choices that are fish-free. My personal favorite is the Kalbi Beef Bowl with kimchi. It’s my go-to spot when I'm in Boulder and need a quick bite to eat.
Date: July 4, 2022 - This poke restaurant leans towards the pricier side. The appetizer we ordered had minimal salmon and was less filled than the display version. However, the taro chips were quite tasty. The bowls are a decent size, but there's an abundance of rice compared to the toppings. I would consider dining here again if I'm in the neighborhood.
I've only tried the bowls and they are delicious! So many choices or make your own custom bowl. Prices are right and the Happy hour (2-5? deals are the best!
We usually order takeout once a week, and I find the prices to be quite reasonable considering the high-quality ingredients and the deliciousness of the food. However, the cashiers and order takers could improve their customer service skills. Despite that, we continue to order from there once or twice a week. Food: 5/5.
