Contribute FeedbackSituated in Boulder, this restaurant showcases a vibrant atmosphere reminiscent of New Orleans, complete with lively drag shows. The menu, however, has received mixed reviews. While some praise dishes like pan-roasted alligator and jambalaya, others criticize the authenticity, noting issues with texture and flavor in seafood offerings like gumbo and etouffee. Drink selections, such as the Hurricanes, garnered positive feedback, yet brunch options fell short. Though some loyal patrons appreciate the unique experience, including the ambiance and certain dishes, others lament their dining experiences, suggesting improvements are needed for a more genuine taste of Louisiana.
My group has visited this restaurant for the second time and four out of five of us are natives of Louisiana. We believe this restaurant is pretty authentic. The hurricanes are delicious. We particularly enjoyed the "slap yo mama" appetizer, especially with the alligator. The oysters, both raw and charbroiled, were also excellent. We tried the jambalaya, red beans and rice, etoufee, and Cajun pasta, all of which were really good. However, we found the beignets to be too dense. We recommend trying the bread pudding instead.
I was born and raised in Louisiana so I am being very critical of the food. The pan roasted alligator was delicious but the jambalaya was soupy. They were not prepared to serve crawfish etouffee so I ordered shrimp etouffee. I was not pleased. If a restaurant is going to claim to serve Louisiana food then they should either learn the recipes or have a native chef in the kitchen for authenticity.
The staff was very friendly, but the prices were too high. We did not have any alcohol. The charbroiled oysters were not as big or as good quality as what we've had in New Orleans. I also had a Caesar salad with added chicken because there was not enough protein in the oysters. I took some of it home. My friend and I split the bill for this lunch, and my share with tip came out to $60! I rarely spend that much for dinner, let alone lunch, especially without alcohol. In conclusion, it was too expensive for me. I wish them the best, but I will not be returning.
I was not a fan of the food choices at this restaurant. The brunch menu was filled with heavy options. The $10 Bloody Mary's were mediocre at best. While I understand that drag shows can be lively, this particular show was excessively loud and annoying. I do not plan on returning to this restaurant.
This is our second time in this restaurant. four of five of us are louisiana native and think that this restaurant is quite authentic. the hurricanes are great. we love the slap yo mama appetizer, especially with the alligator. the oysters are large, both raw and fibrous. we also had the jambalaya, red beans and rice, edofee and cajun pasta. the beignets were too dense. instead they go to brotpudding.
