What a great place. We visited every restaurant on happy cow in Boracay and this was by far our favourite. Smoke is a small local restaurant in the food market section of d'mall. They serve fresh, local and tasty food, with lots of vegetarian dishes, and It's a lot cheaper than all the other places. Seriously, go here. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Smoke Resto:
they have an option only with tofu on the menu and, they do not even disturb to check whether there is any animal product in the plate. they say everything they know is vegetarian. not very welcome. View all feedback.
I ordered a tofu rice bowl and a mango salad without shrimp paste. The tofu rice dish was okay, but not outstanding. The mango salad was intriguing. However, when the server realized I had requested it without shrimp paste, he rinsed the salad plate under water before serving it to me. The salad only contained chopped onions, diced tomatoes, and sliced mango. It was underwhelming.
The restaurant offers a tofu-only option on their menu, but they do not confirm if there are any animal products in the dish. They claim that everything they serve is vegetarian, which can be off-putting for some customers.
When I first visited Boracay five years ago, I dined at this restaurant almost daily. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. So, it was no surprise that I wanted to visit Smoke again on this trip. However, this time the service was not very helpful and bordering on rude. I was disappointed that there was not an option to add tofu to my vegetarian noodles. The taste was average, nothing extraordinary. The prices were reasonable for Boracay. Perhaps it was just bad timing, but we were not inclined to return. We found better food and exceptional service (including options for vegan dishes) at two other local restaurants for an even cheaper price. Just to note, there are two Smoke restaurants at D*mall, with the second one offering more seating options.
There is only one tofu dish available on the menu, and the restaurant did not bother to check if there were any animal products in it. They only know that it is vegetarian, but the lack of concern was unwelcoming so we decided to leave.
I ordered a tofu and rice dish as well as a mango salad without shrimp paste. The tofu and rice dish was okay but nothing extraordinary. The mango salad was unique. I observed the chef remove the shrimp paste that was originally on top of the mango slices when he realized I requested it without shrimp paste. He then rinsed the salad under water before serving it to me. The salad only had chopped onions, diced tomatoes, and sliced mango. It was underwhelming.
