Alth... read more TOURIST RIP-OFF This place is a complete tourist rip-off. Our waiter chatted us up before we began our meal, probably to see whether we're tourists or not. Although we are not German, we live in Berlin, and know how things work here. We were a group of five, and ordered a starter plate, the famous parmesan pasta with truffles, and other dishes. To begin, the waiter served us 2 starter plates which were huge. Because we invited our guests, it would have been awkward for us to reject the 2nd plate, which on hindsight we should have done. The 2 starters were so big that we were almost full just eating that. Then we were served double the amount of pasta that we initially ordered. The waiter immediately popped a new bottle of wine as soon as we finished the first without asking. Looking back, it was like a comedy and the joke was on us. Our bill with tip came out to almost 400 Euros $550 US), that's 80 Euros $110 US) per person! Although the food was good, it was definitely not worth $550! I will NEVER again return to this restaurant because of their obvious pushiness to pinch every penny they can out of a customer. I cannot believe that this place would be allowed to stay open in Berlin.

The food is not bad but a little pretentious. It is a place designed for tourists. Lots of signifiers of luxury, but it is overdone. The taglietella with black truffles was cooked in their ubiquitous cheese wheel along with cream, rum, and what tasted suspiciously like sugar. The result was an overly rich sweet concoction in which the expensive black truffle could no longer be tasted. Would have made a better desert. The waiters were grumpy but as a kind of Italian performance. They upsell too, very annoying. Although I live nearby I will not go back.
