4 weeks in Berlin, 4 weeks F-Bar. If I had been there longer, it would have been my second living room. The store might be a little smaller, but he's also doing his CHarme. The prices are okay and I'm also the people. I'm a little irritated by the review of Melanie Berger. I can't imagine.
What Dmytro A dislikes about F:
This is one of those moments where I'd like to remind Yelpers that 3 stars is a good rating. There's nothing bad about the place, but I can't say that I'm a fan either. They have a couple interesting concepts going, like the aged cocktails, which are already mixed and aging in a cask on the bar. On the other hand, thou shalt not f with ye Olde Fashioned, which recipe stands since dayes of yore! The service and barten... View all feedback.
Redwood gets the formula right, and is absolutely the first choice for cocktails at a non smoking bar in Berlin. A good mix of neighborhood locals and groups coming in for relaxed post work drinks mean it's always lively but never uncomfortable. Whether you're there for a date, out with a few friends, or bringing a crowd of colleagues, all of the staff know how to keep things smooth and simple. But perhaps the biggest plus is that on top of the great menu which does a great job of boh accommodating veteran drinkers AND de stressing beginners the bartenders really know how to tailor drinks to your tastes, even if you're new to describing what you like. PRO TIPS: don't neglect the seasonal portion of the menu (it is NOT an afterthought! , and spring for the pickles if you want a great snack while you drink!
Awesome cocktail bar with a neighborhood feel. Staff was great and really enjoyed the decor. The bar itself was a giant cross cut of a redwood tree which was beautiful as well.
Redwood bar is located in Mitte on a quite street like most good places in Berlin. We were a company of four looking for a drink. If you're looking for a place with more vibe and energy, this is not the place. This is a speak easy, discrete bar with lots of tables for you and your friends to chat over a nice drink. Lights are low in here so we actually got a little tired after a while. I really like the cocktail menu set up. It's a table based on the liqor of your choice and then ranges from bitter to sweet so you know what to expect. Staff speak excellent English and the cocktails were well made. I'd recommend this place for people who live in Berlin or big fans of speak easy bars. Why these? It's a very nice place, but not a must see if you're in Berlin for a short period of time.
It was complete oversight on my part to not write a review about Redwood until now. Or maybe I wanted to keep it a secret? apparently, the Yelp world also wants to keep it a secret since the bar only has 18 reviews and it 's been around since 2012. Bartender/owner Shawn Beck may look fun on the outside, but he takes making cocktails seriously. I came to know Shawn since he used to work at one of my favorite bars in San Francisco, The Burritt Room. YES PEOPLE!!! I stalk, err follow, my bartenders even halfway across the globe. Berlin needed a cocktail bar like this. The city is littered with biergartens, dives and bars that serve excellent beer or wine, but terrible cocktails. This bar on a quiet corner of Bergstrasse is like a breath of fresh air. (air that pretty much smells like your favorite Negroni) Housemade bitters, fresh squeezed juices, premium liquor give bartenders a chance to create incredible cocktails. Expect traditional and also modern cocktails on the menu. I really liked the barrel aged El Presidente that they had on hand. And even in Mitte, you can still find that pricing stands between 10 to 12 euros. That to me is a huge plus! To get here, take the subway to Rosenthaler Platz or Nordbahnhof and walk 5 minutes. To find it, walk along Bergstrasse and look out for the discreet glowing sign: BAR . Enter inside and you will be guaranteed a relaxing night in a casual, cozy environs. Hands down, one of my fave bars in Berlin.
Expectations are high if a cocktail bar in Berlin Mitte is associated with the famous Burritt Room in San Francisco. Wait, Berlin can do cocktails? And by cocktail, do you mean the over-sugared Sex on the Beach and the obnoxious Long Island Ice Tea, best taken in one of those pseudo city beach bars with fake palm trees and dirty white sand? No, my friend. This is the real deal. A speak-easy, low-key bar that does not attract the crowds. It attracts the cocktail lovers. On an extensive menu of high quality liquors the drinks are sorted by the type of alcohol and the level of sweetness. Easy to order. Lounge on the high bar table made of redwood or in one of the more discrete couches in the back. You know what they say. Once you go red you never go back. Well played, Redwood Bar.
