Plearn Thai - Feedback
Reviews
Was Victor Wang at Plearn Thai a mag?
This place serves up pretty good Thai dishes and the place is super friendly and relatively quiet. The beef however in my noodle dish had a big piece of chewy inedible sinew. Prices are good but there's lots of competition in the area. View all feedback.
What Shamus O'Ryan D dislikes about Plearn Thai:
Made reservation and arrived and posted hours on line with open table were not close to what was real hours at the restaurant. Plearn in Berkeley didn't open until an hour after we had confirmed reservation. Obviously suggest restaurant and open table update hours. I ate at original plearn all the time in the 80's and eat at the one in walnut creek now. View all feedback.

The first time to dinner. had their mee krob appetizer, which is not served in most east bay Thai restaurants. it was very good. squid salat was excellent as well as quite hot. jumbo fried prawns disappointing. fried aubergine with pig chicken ok.
I've never had such tasteless and sick Thai food in my life. on a good note the cost were so cheap we couldn't believe it. a beer was 3.75 no reason to return, unless we are in the opposite and need a beer.
Good food, average price, good service in the light of only 1 waitress. eating was served at a time based on preparation. last court pretty slow because ran out of tofu and had to go and get it. but the food and quiet borrowed from our definitiw returned took other critics commented taking into consideration and no meal ordered with a red pepper icon. but 1 meal was still a little spicy
Food is very spicy, even when requested 0. Had the calamari and shrimp with noodle salad.Otherwise good flavor. Fried rice has a smoky flavor which is really nice.
Despite some issues with reservations and unexpected closures, this Thai restaurant has received a mix of reviews. Some customers have praised the atmosphere, service, and quality of the dishes, calling it their favorite Thai restaurant in the Bay Area. However, others have been disappointed with the food, with one reviewer describing it as tasteless and unimaginable. Although prices are reasonable and the overall experience can vary, it may not be a top choice for everyone.

I visited this restaurant for dinner for the first time. I decided to try the Mee Krob appetizer, which is not something you usually find at Thai restaurants in the East Bay. It was absolutely delicious. The squid salad was also fantastic, although quite spicy. Unfortunately, the jumbo fried prawns were a letdown. The fried eggplant with pork and chicken was decent, but nothing special.
I have never experienced Thai cuisine that was as flavorless and unappealingly plated as I did at this restaurant. Despite the lackluster food, I was pleasantly surprised by the affordable prices - with a beer costing only $3.75. I wouldn't return unless I found myself nearby and only looking for a beverage.
The restaurant offered delicious food at a reasonable price, with excellent service despite having just one waitress. The dishes were brought out one by one as they were being prepared. The final dish was delayed slightly as they had run out of tofu and had to fetch more. Nonetheless, our overall experience was enjoyable and we plan to come back again. Following the recommendations of previous reviewers, we steered clear of dishes with a red pepper symbol, yet one dish still ended up being a tad spicy.
Wanted a place close to Berkeley Rep for pre-show dinner. First time there, so going off of other reviews for quality and fast service. It wasn't crowded so we had attentive service which we were looking for, don't know how it might be on another night if crowded. chicken satay and Tod-mun fish cakes starters were very good. Eggplant w/ pork and veggies (47 was very good, the beef w/ red curry sauce (27? came as meat only in the dish which we didn't realize and were a little disappointed in the flavor and lack of other ingredients... both the white and brown rice are very good. Portions are fair, we took a small box of leftovers, and we were satisfied overall. Seems to be a nice neighborhood reliable place.
