Pasta Bene offers a quaint dining experience, characterized by a casual café vibe and friendly staff. While many diners appreciate the reasonable prices and cozy atmosphere, opinions on the food vary widely. Some dishes, like the lasagna and Penne Bolognese, earn praise for their flavor, alongside appealing lunchtime specials. However, others report discontent with food safety practices and order accuracy, impacting overall satisfaction. Though it may not rival more renowned Italian eateries, its charm and affordability make Pasta Bene a decent option for casual meals or a relaxed gathering with friends.

If you need to modify your order, don't come here. I am allergic to black pepper, and ordered the salmon plain with no seasoning. It came out covered in black pepper. I sent it back and they scraped the crust off and gave it back to me. I am insulted.

I don't typically hop straight on to leave reviews, but the staff here was so genuinely nice and kind that I wanted to come on and say that if you're in Berkeley and want Italian food that tastes like your Italian grandma's recipe, go here. Plus, the service is fast (like you'll be eating within 10 minutes of ordering) and the dinner for two is just $33.00.

I really enjoyed this place! A friend and I wanted to grab dinner on a Sunday evening and we were really craving pasta. I looked this place up on Yelp and it had pretty good reviews so we thought to give it a try. On first glance I realized this wasn't your average usual restaurant where you're order is being taken by someone coming up to your table. You actually have to get up from your seat and place your order that way. But they of course then being your food to you. It's a smaller restaurant with maybe no more than 8 or so tables but it's quaint. You grab your own water and can also order beers or wines to be brought to your table. The Gamberetto usually comes with mushrooms but I asked to remove them since they aren't my favorite. The pasta was pretty good though it needed a bit more salt for my personal taste. The garlic bread was ok. I felt the bread was pretty dense and heavy for me so it came off as a little dry if I hadn't dipped it in the marinara sauce. Overall a pretty solid place that I think I'd give another try!

The fettuccine alfredo gave me food poisoning. I'd strongly advise people to avoid this place. Food that doesn't taste good is one thing (this actually tasted alright), but this food might make you really sick. If anyone from Pasta Bene reads this, youneed to start taking your food safety more seriously.

I have been here twice, once for chicken parm (about 15 bucks and more recently I have gone for cheese ravioli. I have concluded that the food is really freaking tasty. The portions aren?t massive for the price but, for Berkeley, it is reasonable. The food here is so delicious? I think I?m lactose intolerant but I still eat here because it?s so dang tasty? Also, there is ahappy hour special for four types of pasta. The info is listed on their website. Somebody please correct me if I?m wrong, but Idon?t think this information is reflected on their Snackpass menu. If this is the case, please do update it! I do like to orderin advance. :
