Moxy - Berkeley
Moxy
Description
The restaurant offers a typical bar food experience, with vegan and gluten-free options available. While some reviewers find it mediocre and nothing special, others praise the brilliant beer selection, great food, and fantastic service. The outdoor seating, board games, and sports on TV make this neighborhood pub a comfortable spot for families and regular patrons alike. However, some customers note that the service can be slow when the restaurant gets busy. Overall, it seems like a popular choice for those looking for a casual dining experience with good food and drinks.

The beer selection is brilliant and the apple wine they have on tap is good. The food was great. Try the lambburger, the Arugula salad or the garlic friries. The service is really great, and our server was very nice. It was busy (we went on a Friday night, so of course it was), and the kitchen was supported, but our server almost immediately let us know after we had set ourselves, and we knew it would take a while to get our food. We thought it was worth waiting. We liked this place very much. We're new to the area, so we wanted to try something new... this place was a really great choice.
Wilson! We found Wilson from Castaway... fun atmosphere. Good selection of beers on ****. Friendly bartender.
The food and service here is top notch. The lambburgers and garlic fries are my favorite. The atmosphere has a friendly neighborhood feeling. The terrace is also beautiful on a hot day. I love watching sports and a cold beer here on the big screen TV.
As for my credentials, I worked as a deli chef and have spent countless hours watching shows like Hell's Kitchen where Gordon Ramsay attempts to revive failing restaurants. The proof is in the picture: the sad, misshapen burger patty looked like it had either been pressed too hard or that the kitchen just didn’t care. I ordered a cheeseburger and was disappointed to receive just half a slice of cheese—literally a triangle piece that wasn’t even melted. The condiments were heartbreakingly sparse, with one tiny slice of tomato, a single ring of red onion, one measly pickle, and a decent leaf of iceberg lettuce. These are basic toppings! How much could a few more pickles or a slice of tomato possibly cost? It feels like they either don’t know how to prepare a proper burger, are trying to save money due to financial struggles, or they simply mismanaged their inventory and ran out of essential items in the kitchen. But that can't be the case, considering Safeway is open 24 hours.
I drove past this place for years without considering it. However, after visiting a few times, I now have a long list of things I love about it: a spacious parking lot, plenty of seating, and it's never overly crowded. The food is fantastic! We enjoyed the brats, lamb burger, veggie burger, onion rings, and fried pickles. The beer selection is impressive, and you can find almost anything you like, including a delicious guava cider that we may have ordered several rounds of. The staff is super friendly, helpful, and humorous. If you're looking for a great meal without the hassle of searching for parking, plus a charming outdoor seating area, this is the place to go.
