Jamba Juice - Berkeley
Jamba Juice
Description
This restaurant's offerings, particularly the acai primo bowls, consistently fail to meet expectations, often appearing more like diluted smoothies than the intended product. Coupled with poor customer service, the dining experience is marred by rudeness from staff and a noticeable lack of attention to patrons. While some appreciate the juice quality and speed, the persistent negative attitude among employees creates an unwelcoming atmosphere. The establishment also suffers from a pungent bleach odor that detracts from its appeal. Although fast-paced and convenient for students, significant improvements in service and product consistency are urgently needed.

This was the first time I've encountered such an attitude from a business employee in the US. It's true that having only two staff members during busy hours puts a lot of pressure on them, but that shouldn't affect how they treat customers. The employee seemed really tired and... Nonetheless, the juice itself was good.
The attitude of the staff when the place isn’t busy and they’re only taking one order is noticeably rude. The customer service clearly isn’t the same as the friendly interaction the employee had with her friend. I could tell they were friends because the customer casually chatted with the employee about borrowing a phone charger, and the employee was much more cheerful during that conversation than when taking our order. The store also has a strong bleach or chemical smell, which made me step outside for a moment to breathe while waiting for my drink. Although the store hours say they close at 7 pm, I was there before 6 and left just after 6, only to see the employee lock the door behind us while her friend was still inside. It was an unpleasant and unprofessional experience overall. On top of that, the drinks were below average.
The acai primo bowls at Jamba Juice are often prepared incorrectly. Despite repeatedly requesting them not to be watered down, they always come out diluted. It feels more like ordering a smoothie than a true bowl. Rarely do I receive one that’s made properly during my visits.
I have consistently had a poor experience with customer service every time I visit this restaurant. I find it perplexing that the cashier, who is always rude to customers, is the one interacting with patrons. His dismissive demeanor creates an atmosphere where customers feel like a burden, resulting in an overall negative experience. It might be a good idea to reassign him to a different role, such as preparing smoothies, while having someone else take over the cashier duties. This adjustment could significantly enhance the restaurant's professional image.
The service at the counter wasn't very friendly, but it might have been tolerable if the smoothie had been made correctly. I've enjoyed Jamba Juice at other locations, but the fruit in this smoothie was not blended properly. I couldn't drink it or even eat it without a spoon. Overall, it was a disappointing experience.
