My friend and I enjoy coming here because we're fans of Japanese cuisine, even though neither of us is particularly fond of sushi (I personally can't stand seafood). I usually order the chicken or zangkatsu, while he opts for the chicken teriyaki. The restaurant's ambiance does have a lovely Japanese feel, which is nice, and they offer takeout as well. I also ordered chicken teriyaki, which was quite unremarkable. Unfortunately, our waitress was not very friendly. Ichiban was clean and comfortable. It was slightly expensive, but definitely worth it.
This has been our favorite spot for sushi delivery for years. The quality is consistently excellent, and the prices are reasonable.
Ichiban is closed indefinitely. It used to be my favorite Japanese restaurant in Berkeley.
