Café Zeb - Berkeley
Café Zeb
Description
Nestled near a law school, this casual café is a study-friendly spot known for generous Mediterranean salads, flavorful sandwiches (try the Californian or turkey pesto), breakfast pastries and quick hot breakfasts. Ample indoor and outdoor seating, lots of windows and friendly staff make it popular with students and commuters. Prices are mid-range and service is generally brisk, but food quality and coffee can be inconsistent — traditional espresso-style coffee isn't offered, and occasional lapses in preparation or service have been reported.

The coffee is absolutely terrible! Every time I've been desperate enough to buy a drink, I end up pouring it out right away. They don't measure the chai flavoring properly—it's just poured from a gallon jug without any consideration. For the sake of students' health, consistency, and caffeine needs, I urge you to improve or hire trained baristas! I'm begging you!
Delicious lunch choices with ample outdoor seating. My personal favorite is the Californian Sandwich, packed with flavorful veggies that are sure to satisfy and keep you energized throughout the day!
I've visited this café many times before the pandemic, but it seems that since then, the quality of the food has really declined. I ordered a turkey and Swiss panini, and to my disappointment, it was mostly bread with just a single slice of meat. It's definitely overpriced and not worth it.
The perfect Mediterranean salad with fresh, quality ingredients. Large portions so that’s a plus. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $10–20 Recommendation for vegetarians: Highly recommend Vegetarian offerings: Large vegetarian selection
