Browns - Bath
Browns
Description
The restaurant, although busy, had slow service and disappointing afternoon tea. Some dishes were passable but not memorable, with overcooked chicken and dry fries. The food quality is above average, but portion sizes were small. The menu had a wide selection, with a summer special option. The ambiance was lovely with great cocktails, although some customers' behavior made the experience uncomfortable. Excellent service was noted, with comfortable and glamorous surroundings. Some minor issues were rectified by a helpful waitress, and the manager made a celebration extra special. Overall, the food was good with normal prices, and the restaurant is recommended.

Afternoon tea was good. victoria sponge was my favourite, very soft and good flavour. pretty reasonable price and lots of options. Meal type: Other Price per person: £20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
We've booked two vegetarian Afternoon Teas online. We were asked if we had any allergies upon arrival and we said we didn't. We just said we've made a reservation for Afternoon Teas. She gave us menus, we ordered drinks but the waitress didn't ask what we wanted to order for food, so assumed that they knew from the booking online. 10-15 minutes later she brought over meat Afternoon Teas to which we said we ordered vegetarian versions online and said to the waitress that she never came to take food order. Her response was that she asked if we had any dietary requirements but she asked about allergies, which being vegetarians isn't an allergy. The waitress was visibly displeased and had a bad attitude since. The food then didn't arrive until 1.5 hours later which is unacceptable considering nothing needed cooking. The food wasn't worth what we paid for either, very average sandwiches and absolutely tiny portions for £25 each. When it came to paying the bill they tried to charge is for four Afternoon Teas instead of two, plus service charge. We will not be visiting again and certainly not be recommend this place to anyone. Overpriced mediocre food with poor service, which is really disappointing. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: £30–40 Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3
SMALL MAN SYNDROME! Went here for afternoon tea, only people who were accommodating and lovely were Alyssa and the two bartenders. Alyssa severed us initially and then her shift ended so we saw her speak to a manager (a man in a blue shirt who was very short) She had asked someone to come take our order, no one did so she came over after she’d got her things to leave and put our orders in. After this, everyone ignored us, didn’t give us proper utensils or even a cup for tea. We had to keep going up to the bartenders who always helped us and were really nice guys. Don’t go here unless it’s just for drinks, that manager has severe small man syndrome and needs to be fired. Price per person: £30–40 Food: 3 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 2
The service was quick and the food was of a high quality, but the waitress was very impersonal and abrupt. Additionally, they automatically add a 10% surcharge to the bill for even just two people, though they state that it is optional in the fine print. They do not ask for permission before adding this charge, which they should do as a matter of common courtesy.
