Reviews - Browns
Reviews summary
The restaurant, although busy, had slow service and disappointing afternoon tea. Some dishes were passable but not memorable, with overcooked chicken and dry fries. The food quality is above average, but portion sizes were small. The menu had a wide selection, with a summer special option. The ambiance was lovely with great cocktails, although some customers' behavior made the experience uncomfortable. Excellent service was noted, with comfortable and glamorous surroundings. Some minor issues were rectified by a helpful waitress, and the manager made a celebration extra special. Overall, the food was good with normal prices, and the restaurant is recommended.
Was Della White at Browns a mag?
Had a lovely time with friends at Browns in Bath. The food was really good but our experience was made by the friendliest and most helpful waitress, Yee Lin. Would go back just to see her! View all feedback.
What Kadin Barrows dislikes about Browns:
Booked a table as very few options in Bath on Sunday evening. Service was friendly but slow seemed to be only one server for many tables Crab and avo starter had v little crab! Prawn and chorizo starter was awful- 4 v small prawns and 5 pieces of chorizo we complained and it was taken off the bill. Mushrooms on sour dough was fine. Main courses were ok but nothing special. Every major cosmopolitan city in the world has something unique to offer that one does not see in other places.
Another great lunch dealNice marinated meat that wasn't overcooked served with a great salad.
The food was best. expected to eat that I didn't think I could cook home, felt like something she picked up as an eating deal in tesco.
We chose the restaurant for the convenient access and also because I was before and then enjoyed it. greeting and personal were good, beautiful and efficient. the food itself was not great : one of us had the shepherds pie and lamm rack, which seemed tasty, but the part was tiny! I had the prawn krabbe linguini and it was so spicy and so full of garlic that I could hardly eat it and had no joyful taste of something out of burned garlic! pity! it has actually felt very uncomfortable to the point of illness. please taste her food before they serve the generality

Had a delightful dinner last night at this restaurant! It was my first time there since June last year and it exceeded my expectations. The bar was bustling, but the cocktails were served quickly and were delicious! The late-night food options were fantastic, I highly recommend trying the roast cod dish.
I went to this restaurant for my birthday and initially had a problem with my starter, which was fixed promptly. Unfortunately, my husband's starter was cold when it arrived, but there was a noticeable improvement when it was replaced. The main course was delicious and the dessert more than made up for the rough start. The setting was lovely, and our waitress was fantastic - she went above and beyond to assist us.
My experience at Browns for Breakfast was pleasant. The location and building were both excellent. The food was tasty, although not very hot, and the coffee was average.
Lovely building and restaurant on arrival. We visited for breakfast and had some good choices on the menu. The food was great although I had scrambled eggs and salmon and only got 1 piece of toast which is a bit stingy and the service was a bit slow given it was quiet. But would visit again.

Surprise meeting after son proposed. Perfect. All staff helped out to make the perfect afternoon.
Nicely decorated restaurant friendly waiting staff. Food was disappointing scallop starter not very flavourful and fish pie contained one scallop and one prawn the rest was salmon so more of a salmon pie
I really enjoyed it, the food was incredible, I haven't eaten at Brown's for about 3 Years, but it was worth it, I'll definitely come again later this year, thank you very much! ???? ???? ????
I took my wife to Bath Christmas Market for her birthday. We agreed we would go somewhere nice for lunch. We are both on a fixed income being pensioners, and we saw they had a lunch menu £18.95 each. Reasonable for lunch and upscale enough for us to consider it a bit special. Booked my table for yesterday at 12.30. With the online booking, they ask you to confirm the menu you want and they then confirm. I could not complete the booking without picking a menu and chose the lunch one. Turned up to be told that the lunch menu was no longer available but replaced by a Festive Menu at £33 each. This was despite the restaurant sending an email 6 hours previously confirming the menu I had chosen. We could have afforded to eat off the festive or main menu but were disinclined because we consider this to be very sharp practice and, if we wanted to pay nearly £80 for lunch with drinks, we would have gone somewhere better. Why give the option of the menu when booking, confirming that it was available 6 hours prior to the visit and then make it unavailable? They knew we were coming on that day. Very disappointed in our treatment

The service was quick and the food was of a high quality, but the waitress was very impersonal and abrupt. Additionally, they automatically add a 10% surcharge to the bill for even just two people, though they state that it is optional in the fine print. They do not ask for permission before adding this charge, which they should do as a matter of common courtesy.
This restaurant is a great place to meet up with friends for lunch. The food may be simple, but it is delicious. The service, although a bit slow at times, was still good when it was provided.
