Reviews summary
Nestled within the Apollo Hotel in Basingstoke, Vespers presents a delightful dining experience marked by exquisite starters and thoughtfully crafted dishes. Guests rave about the quality of food, including standout options like venison terrine and pork belly, as well as accommodating service. However, the quiet ambiance often detracts from the overall experience, leaving visitors yearning for a livelier atmosphere. While the attentive staff strive to enhance the dining occasion, a lack of patrons has been a common theme. Vespers at the Apollo Hotel in Basingstoke is a hidden gem. I am sure if more people knew about it, it would be busier. The food and service were fantastic. Vespers offer the finer touches, or example the bread rolls are particularly the blue cheese one are The pre appetiser is also always very tasty. This was my third visit and the only thing l would say was lacking were other customers. Great value, great tasting and well worth a visit.
Some friends and I visited Vespers in Basingstoke. The food was outstanding. One of the group was a vegetarian and the restaurant were very accommodating and offered to cook her whatever she wanted. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening and the service was brilliant. It was just a shame that it was so quiet so lacked atmosphere. If people realised that the restaurant was there and that it was so good it would be booked out every night!
This was our second visit to Vespers and every bit as enjyable as the first! For a relaxing non-rushed evening you can't beat this set up. A good selection on the menu and all beautifully prepared and served. Give it a try you won't be disappointed,
I got some good tickets for this hotel so decided to take some friends for dinner, we were all surprised how good that was eating, we all had a cursor and each court was delightful, workers were professional and amusing and the bill a reasonable amount, thanks vespers for a nice evening!
We had a really nice evening at the apollo hotel in basingstoke. the starters were amazing, both were really impressed. the netts do not fully meet the same standards. Unfortunately, the restaurant was really quiet and so the atmosphere was dead. strangely the waitress seemed completely unprepared on diners such a very mixed experience.

I received some vouchers for this hotel and decided to bring some friends for dinner. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. We all enjoyed a delicious 3-course meal, and each dish was delightful. The staff were professional and attentive, and the bill was reasonable. Thank you Vespers for a wonderful evening!
We had a wonderful evening at the Apollo Hotel in Basingstoke. The appetizers were excellent and impressed both of us. However, the main courses did not quite meet the same level of quality. Sadly, the restaurant was quite quiet, leading to a lackluster atmosphere. Strangely, the waitress seemed unprepared for customers, resulting in a mixed experience.
I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The staff were exceptional, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was very relaxed.
We visited Vespers after reading that it was one of the better restaurants in Basingstoke. We weren't disappointed. The food was good, with the pork belly strongly recommended. I found the scallops well presented and succulent; perhaps a little bland to taste. Desserts were also good and came with a glass of champagne, which was a very nice touch. The head waiter was professional and quite a character, and he added to our enjoyment of the evening. Worth a visit if you're in town.
