Reviews - The Lime Leaf

#3 - Vegetarian - Basingstoke, Asiatic, Indian

Reviews summary

The Lime Leaf is a busy, down-to-earth Thai spot that wins praise for strong flavours, generous seafood dishes and good value. Many diners celebrate the quality of the curries and seafood platters, and regulars describe friendly, polite front-of-house staff. However, service can be inconsistent on peak nights: guests report long waits for mains, rushed ordering at the bar and occasional reservation problems. The layout includes a small upstairs room that can be noisy when full, and a few diners note portions and collection discounts have changed recently. Overall The Lime Leaf is loved for its food but can be hit-or-miss on service and seating comfort.

The food here is delicious! Eaten in and had a take away several times and the food never fails to disappoint full of flavour and a large menu to choose from. The restaurant itself is very quirky and rustic, but I like it and the staff are all lovely. Cannot recommend highly enough!

The restaurant was recommended by a friend, and it did not disappoint at all. We were on a tight schedule, but they accommodated us wonderfully. The food was absolutely delicious, the staff lovely, and I would definitely go back again next time I'm in Basingstoke. Thank you so much

One of the best Thai food I've had in a long time. The variety offered for the seafood starter platter was perfect and the red curry with king prawns is a must try! Good value for money. The improvements i'd recommend are to have the meat chicken dishes made halal and to have some background oriental background music to give it a thai feel. Overall, a great experience.

This Thai restaurant located at the top of town is a great option for those following a gluten-free diet. The menu clearly marks GF items, and there are plenty of naturally gluten-free options available. As someone with Celiac Disease, I always make sure to inform the staff about my dietary restrictions, and I have eaten here 5 or 6 times without any issues. I usually visit during lunchtime when they have a special menu and it tends to be less crowded. My go-to order is the chicken satay with green chicken curry, and it never disappoints.

Thai restaurant at the top of the city. GF elements are marked in the menu. There are many options and I think a lot of the menu is of course GF. I have always said I have CD and must follow GF diet etc. I've eaten 5 or 6 times there and not glutenized. I should say I usually go to lunch as they have a special menu and it is generally quite quiet. Oh and I always command the same chicken Satay with green chicken curry.

First arrived the restaurant was busy but the server says we could sit out side, I wish she would have said we’re full but ended up waiting a long time to get our starter, then waited another 30 minutes before the first mains turned up but then my partner had to wait another 5- 10 minutes to get hers, My dinner did not taste very nice the chicken tasted like it was frozen and heated up with no seasoning. The starters were not very nice and slightly cold . During our long wait we noticed a consistent supply of deliveroo cyclist turning up for online orders, I understand this might of helped a restaurant survive during covid but those times are gone and now the wait times have shot up because of this. Waste of money the quality has suffered compared to how it used to be run, what a shame the place used to be amazing

The service at this restaurant was very disappointing, as we were virtually neglected for a long time. We had almost finished our main course before receiving the necessary cutlery. The prawn crackers were burnt, although we were not charged for them. The spring rolls were decent, and the Thai beer was enjoyable.

We visited based on personal recommendation and were not disappointed! Wow … the food was AMAZING! The best food I have eaten in a very long time… so fresh and tasty. We had a set menu and every dish was exquisite… a real treat for the tastebuds … the crispy duck salad was probably my favourite due to its intensely refreshing flavours of the salad against the heat and crispness of the duck… we will definitely be back!

Wow! eating was good can't fail. the personal was beautiful and attentive. the decor inside is really beautiful, great mood. good menu and veggie/vegan options that are important to me. first-time eating Thai food will go back here. just what I will say is that the salat leaves were dead and they were not served with dressing, but we were not as much harassed as more important for us were the hearty objects / meal:

Real good value for money as long as this location in jakarta is good for your trip. otherwise an average hotel. the rooms are not very clean, but I am not too inconspicuous. personal nice and friendly. pool a sweat, it is a large bath tub. coffee to breakfast is really bad, and eating is average. but it is cheap and cheerful so good.

I sat on 12.12.19 at 12 noon for lunch, I was next to the window. a few minutes later I moved to the empty restaurant when I felt cold. the seat and the air from the outside window I sat next to us to deliver the cold. i was told it was ‘NIGHT COLD’. it was just because I came in from the outside. he was not respectful in the dead. I'm not sure he talked to me like that because I'm South Asia. I'm 50 years old and have eaten in london for 32 years. I'm very rarely moving for cold. are the ignorant of the services customs and word of mouth? dislike money? they were happy to eat...read more

Fake Indian anesthetic restaurant that is not an Indian restaurant. all are fake bangladesch arrogante types. they are so rude to talk to customers that the first impression of eating is lost. they do not show respect to the customers who enter. they can not sit on the choice of the urtic on their own faust, whatever they decide to sit there. during the order they have so many conditions that each person must book a full meal, even if they don't have so much appetit. on opposites they are very rude that I thought I should hit him first on his face and then talk. they make discrimination between people in relation to the provision of sitting to serve their table. After I tried aniseed and the feeling, I found out there was another curry place near me. lime had no one in him when I was going, but I'm always ready to go. I ordered the lamm tikka, garlic naan and white rice lamb tikka – very good in terms of taste and quantity. the flesh could have been a little tender, but overall no complaining of me. only sharp enough. Garlauch naan – a bit down (most of them were here) because there was not much garlic on it. Not bad, but a bit too cumbersome for my lust. white rice is white rice. overall I enjoyed a bit more here, still try to find a real big curry (probably need to go to bricklane...read more
