Online 20% system down so couldn’t order . Phoned up the restaurant but couldn’t use the 20% and was told the manager has sorted it . Obviously it’s not , she was rude with her attitude and told her we will go someone else she was happy for us to do that, bad attitude and costing this restaurant money as there is a group of 8 people . I agree with the other reviews that the management changed about a year ago. The food quality is subpar, often missing items and takes a long time to be served. We used to come here at least once a week, but every time we give it another chance, we regret it. Don't invest in a takeaway restaurant if you have no experience running one. Save your money and dine elsewhere. I will never return to this restaurant.
This restaurant experience was absolutely terrible. I placed an order a month ago and it was completely wrong, and I was still charged for items I did not receive. I decided to give them a second chance tonight, but unfortunately, the service was just as bad. I waited over 1 1/2 hours for my food, even though I was initially told it would be ready in 40 minutes. When I called to inquire about my order, the person who answered the phone was incredibly rude and unapologetic, telling me to go somewhere else. I will not be returning to this restaurant and will be warning others to avoid it as well.
This restaurant has really gone downhill since the last time I ordered from here. I won't be returning as the food was tasteless and it felt like a waste of money.
I don't like leaving negative reviews but sadly my last order was aweful. We've used Ricefields for years and they have always been tasty and reasonably priced for what you got, however this order had gone up in price... which I understand but then the portions have reduced and I suspect you have to pay an extra pound to get the old portion sizes which are large.. everything was tasteless and they gave us the wrong spare ribs and no bbq gravy for a second time! Sadly we won't be using them in the future felt extremely ripped off and dissappointed at how it's changed. I suspect that people will sadly be avoiding this Chinese for the same reasons. Advice to owners would be don't charge more then give less your customers are not idiots and doing this will cost you business further down the line. I'm happy to pay more for the same item if it's the same size.
What has happened to Ricefields, I used to recommend them to all my friends, the last 3 takeaways were just not great, I kept ordering as I was thinking it was just an off night! Salt pepper chilli ribs were lovely but £6 for 5 ribs I feel a little OTT however everything is going up in price) special curry was tasteless very bland, meat rubbery and sauce was extremely thin, egg fried rice was lovely, lemon chicken, the chicken was so dry it would have made good soles for my shoes, why is the satay sauce now disgusting, completely different sauce to what they used to do, portions are much smaller, I do get that though with costs for everything rising, the telephone and delivery staff are always lovely, can anyone recommend a good Chinese takeaway in Basildon apart from Ricefields obviously)

The food at this restaurant was terrible. I had to wait an hour for my food, and when it finally arrived, they got my order wrong. When I called to complain, they sent out another dish that was also incorrect. When I went to the shop to speak to the manager, I found her outside smoking a cigarette while wearing blue gloves. She then went back inside the kitchen and continued preparing food with the same gloves on. The manager was very rude and unprofessional, and the Chinese food was the worst I have ever had. Be cautious if you decide to eat here.
I highly recommend this restaurant for its delicious takeout food at affordable prices. The service is always friendly, and their ribs are exceptional. I especially suggest trying the Singapore fried rice.
I placed an order for home delivery at 5:55 PM and was told it would take about 45 minutes. However, 1 hour and 20 minutes later, I had to call and ask for an update. I was informed that the driver had just left. After waiting another 1 hour and 30 minutes and making a total of 43 calls, I finally got through. I expressed my frustration as two hungry children in the house had to be fed and their Chinese takeaway treat still hadn't arrived. The excuse given was that they were very busy, but I felt it was unacceptable to keep me waiting without any communication. This was the third time we had been disappointed by this restaurant and now we have decided to take our business elsewhere. The food itself was mediocre and arrived lukewarm. We will not be returning and I caution others to be wary of their service.
Nice Chinese food, friendly service and reasonably priced. One of the better Chinese takeaways in the area.
