Reviews summary
REIDS is a cosy, pub-style restaurant in Billericay known for a warm atmosphere and dependable favourites like Sunday roasts and classic pub plates. Guests praise the friendly front-of-house team, the welcoming bar area and a handy function room that suits birthdays, anniversaries and larger gatherings. The location is central with easy parking and a familiar, homely feel.
That said, experiences vary: several diners report slow service during busy periods, occasional staffing gaps at the bar and uneven food temperature and portion consistency. While many visits deliver tasty, comforting dishes and good value, others have experienced delays and quality lapses. Overall REIDS reads as a community staple with real strengths for casual meals and events but some operational inconsistencies to be aware of.

The restaurant has a charming atmosphere with welcoming bar staff always ready to assist and friendly door staff. They have music playing on Saturday nights.

Get in quick ! After the stress of covid, Reids re opened after a refit and it was well worth the wait...trouble is, its closing for good some time next year.. We went for a Sunday lunch and were surprised to find how quiet it was considering the food was delicious, fresh, hot, plentiful and well served... we had the roast sirloin, roast potatoes, veg and the biggest Yorkshire pudding I've ever seen ! The gravy was delicious, obviously made with the beef juice... Rounded off with delicious lemon tart served with a zingy raspberry sorbet. Really good food served by good staff...
Just had Sunday lunch with the family and I have to say food was excellent. It was fairly quiet which is surprising considering the quality of the food and it’s not expensive for what you get. This is our second visit and both times have been great. Waitresses were also very good and helpful.
We was waiting a while for desert and drinks but we was okay with that as it was mothers day and they was busy, there was a nice lady singing and the manager still give us a round of drinks for free always enjoy my food and time whiles there
Mothers day was a real treat, restaurant was lovely with a roast to die for. Service was good albeit a very busy day. I can thoroughly recommend the food and friendly staff. A singer, free glass prosecco and a lovy balloon made it even better, well done to the chefs don't know how you do it.
My husband and myself had sunday lunch here and can honestly say its one of the best with tender meat, fresh perfectly cooked veg so nicely put together on the plate with request of exra gravy which actually tasted of meat juices rather than the usual slop you get most other places. All topped off with a big fat yorkshire pudding (not just for roast beef) melt in the mouth pecan pie and bannana ice cream was delicious. Waitress attentive and charming...we will be back!

We had a lovely girly catch up . The young man that served us was very polite and very helpful. The food was amazing as always. We love going to Reid’s regularly due to the friendliness of all staff and the lovely food.
Yes, I would definitely recommend this venue to friends. Our server, Tom R, was DELIGHTFUL. Courteous, unobtrusive, but there when you needed him. Nothing was too much trouble; not that we caused any, I hope! His mum should be extremely proud of him, as I’m sure she is! Food was piping hot and well-cooked. I asked for extra dressing- there in a flash. The lunch time 2/3 course menu is a steal and well worth having. Asian fish cakes were delicious. First time of visiting, I went with my hard-to-please 22 year old son. He was most happy! I’m considerably older and I loved it, too. Will visit again and again.
This was our first time at Reid’s. Food was really nice, steak was slightly undercooked (asked for medium rare but was more rare). My cocktail came after our starters had arrived. I had to ask twice for the cocktail. Service was really poor had to ask for the drink twice. Then when our mains arrived they forgot the garlic bread so we had to ask and also had to ask for steak knives. The waiters didn’t really seem interested. However there was 3 large groups in so we gave them the benefit of the doubt. Not sure if we will return.
The food was luke warm and it took an hour from ordering to arrive, we had the Sunday lunch and the restaurant was half empty so no idea why it took so long, we arrived 2.20 a bit early and food came at 3.30 the excuse being because we did not order starters (what on earth that has to do with anything I don't know). Was hungry by then only had a bowl of cereal for breakfast, so if you want to eat at 2.30 book a table for 1.30, and you might be lucky.

We visited with a party of 30 people in the januar for our late Christmas bash. originally booked before christmas but had to delay due to covid, no problems with the new regulation. eating and service were of a very high standard. the service manager at this evening (then) was very helpful and organized a small area for us drinks after our meal directly at the main bar. a great evening and I would recommend for larger parties.
Great evening and food .... 3 courses for £29.95 pp on valentines night including amazing fillet steak... food quality was 5 star! Service great too although a little slow due to restaurant being really busy A good idea for Reids would be that the person seating u could offer u a drink to save u waiting more than 20 minutes for a server to come and get your drinks order and then wait some more... avoid dry mouth
My grandparents and I had a fantastic lunch in a wheelchair today, and we couldn't praise the place and the personal enough. so friendly of opening the front door, which emphasizes the disabled toilet for us, and open all doors to go to our table. we had a beautiful round table and were accommodated everywhere. the personal was very friendly and of a high standard. After we saw the big parts that come into other tables, we asked for a smaller part for one of our party that was provided without problems. amazing value for money and we can't owe. many thanks for a great lunch
Amazing eating, great atmosphere. eating was fresh, appealing to the eye and tasted fantastic. a new favorite place for us to eat.
We had Xmas day here. £75 per head. We were put in the functions room which to me spelt danger from past experiences there. You just don't get the same service in this room. Even though the 3 courses were well presented the mains weren't that great. Turkey far to thick and dry. Our table was never cleared of glasses which made eating more difficult. Think the waiting staff were friends of staff as we're just told to give food out and collect plates. There were 20 adults and a few kids and the bill was well over £2000 without all drinks going on bill. We went there for mother's Day which was the same. Not great. Don't think I'll be going back for anymore big sit downs there as they just can't cope but will take your money.
