Food was good. However, I personally felt that the flavor explosions were missing.

Poetry from the kitchen and wine cellar! In terms of taste and presentation, the aroma menu ranges from amuse-bouche to dessert. Each course is a delicacy in itself, but the overall picture justly deserves the name. The sommelier also offers an exquisite journey across Europe. A real treat!

Dining in this 2 Michelin star gourmet restaurant was an exquisite experience. The food was superb, with creations like caviar and cucumber, succulent pigeon, and a memorable nectarine dessert. The service was attentive and warm, adding to the pleasant ambiance. The venue itself was beautifully decorated, with a lovely terrace and garden. A remarkable evening of flavors and elegance that I highly recommend.

Wonderful location in one of the better neighborhoods in Basel, old house with high ceilings, very nicely renovated and decorated. Very nice atmosphere. Food is very good. Asparagus amuse Bouche and coquilles St. Jacques were excellent. Also ribs were very good. Lamb was unfortunately not good, very strong lamb taste. Lemon desert was excellent. Overall very good food. Very poor choice of wine by the glass, the quality they offer is really not matching the level of the restaurant. Service is not at the level of a Michelin star restaurant, it is way too casual, sometimes you wait very long until you get served, they serve you over the table and not from the side, some of the staff are not overly friendly. The service is really the weak point, I have experienced this several times here. A pity as it is a lovely place with good food. If you love good food in a nice location and don’t mind casual service then you will like it.

After quite a chaotic start at the front door and being almost overrun by the waiting staff we landed in a beautiful and serene dining hall. Staff was friendly and clearly did their best, but most of them were obviously quite inexperienced and/or untrained. Chaotic feeling in the service continued throughout the evening and just isn 't acceptable in a 2* restaurant. Chef Grandits personally brought the amuse bouche to the table and wished us a nice evening. I think that was a nice touch. Food was beautifully presented and of high quality. Every dish required some thought and studying before the idea and hard work behind the seemingly effortless and sometimes simple-looking plate came to light. Technical gimmicks in presentation were replaced by bright colors and clear tastes, everything well in balance. All in all, the evening and the experience were nice, yet nothing to brag about. Main thing, the well prepared, beautiful and tasty dishes are easily flattened by borderline unprofessional and disorganized service. Restaurant is extremely !! pricey and rewarded with 2 Michelin stars but the question is: why? World is full of very good restaurants with immaculate kitchens and perfect service, yet many are rated more poorly. In the case of Tanja Grandits the Michelin-guide didn 't get it right, in my opinion.

My wife I were in Bâle for a long birthday weekend we wanted to do something special for dinner on the main day. We couldn’t have chosen better. What we loved from arrival was the informal undercurrent; smart, classy, but not overly stuffy. The whole front of house team had just the right level of engagement friendliness, making you feel genuinely relaxed welcome. We had the 9 course Aroma Menu, with accompanying wine pairing. Tanja Grandits herself kicked off proceedings by personally delivering our 1st course, then, course after course, we were delivered an ever more sublime experience, with ‘surprise’ arrivals taking the course count to 12, all paired with truly stunning wines. What a fabulous experience it was, thank you Tanja team ! If you are in the position to justify the typically high Michelin start prices, I recognise many wouldn’t be able to do so, I would highly recommend a visit.

We were greeted at the front entrance and without any option, were seated outside on the terrace. The terrace itself was spacious and beautiful but: 1)The summer heatwave made it difficult to enjoy without being completely drenched in sweat by the end of the meal. Others had similar problems and were left fanning with the menu card and alike. This could have been anticipated. 2)Even more disruptive, the frequent and loud tram noise interrupted many of our conversations. Although the restaurant is not at fault, one can imagine that this should be addressed and corrected. We are loud people and usually don't mind being in a lively area, but this was too much. The dishes were well prepared, there was a constant theme that the color of the food items were carefully matched for each plate which was visually appealing but the taste is somewhat conservative, don't expect a wow effect. What came off as aggressive marketing however was the drinks. The waiter(s) would consistently propose and pour different chilled wine (hard to refuse due to the heat) without informing about the price. Already the menu itself is a splurge and now with ~30 CHF per glass, the tally at the end came up a lot more than expected.

The placed lived up to its reputation 120%, beyond our high expectations. We just loved how the taste of the products were highlighted in the dishes. Service was very friendly, professional and uncomplicated. The same person was always in charge of our table and very attentive. The sommelier proposed wonderful wines to go with the courses, adapted to our preferences. It's an experience not to forget. Only little regret: We didn't get to meet the chef, it seemed that she wasn't around that evening. But the team did a perfect job!
