Their pan-fried sliced veal stri... read more An excellent (probably the best) spot for traditional Swiss cuisine in Basel, with a beautifully classic, traditional interior. Their pan-fried sliced veal strips in a mushroom cream sauce served with rösti (Geschnetzeltes vom Baselbieter Vollmilchkalb – Pilzrahmsauce – Rösti) is a straight 10/10 and an absolute must-try. They also offer a great wine selection. It’s on the pricier side, but worth every penny. The dining room is often full, so make a reservation in advance.

We were only able to get in for lunch and I was so sad I didn’t get to try their ricotta dumpling at dinner because it sounded absolutely amazing. The lunch food was excellent and the location was excellent and truly the only bummer was not being able to eat more. And trust me I tried. I begged. I went back at least six times trying to get in. No luck. I will forever wonder just how incredible that ricotta dumpling was. Make a reservation or you will have zero chance of getting in.
