The Swan

Description

At The Swan, diners experience a stark contrast in service and quality. While some patrons rave about the delightful vegan offerings and attentive staff, others recount prolonged waits and unhygienic food presentations that dampen special occasions. The positive reviews highlight an impressive selection of vegan and gluten-free choices, including mouthwatering haggis fritters and generous portions, making it a popular spot for local celebrations. However, criticism arises over inconsistent service and disappointing meals that differ from the enticing presentation in menus. Overall, The Swan embodies the duality of dining, where expectations may vary greatly between visits.

We have visited this restaurant multiple times for breakfast and family celebrations, which included vegans, a Coeliac, and a fussy eater. It can be challenging to cater to such a diverse group, but we appreciate the fact that they offer both vegan and gluten-free menus with a wide range of options. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is great, and it's nice to know that we are supporting a social enterprise.

This was hands down the best meal I've had on this island so far. They offered a vegan breakfast, toasts and rolls offered vegan options as well. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Really nothing to complain about, great food and great coffee. Set me off with a great start to the day!

Best vegan breakfast I’ve ever had. I always ask for ketchup, this time it sat untouched because it felt a sacrilege to put it on this amazing meal. Vegan menu available. They always have a vegan sweet as well to satisfy my sweet tooth. Updated from previous review on 2022-06-12

I highly recommend trying the vegan haggis with whiskey sauce at this restaurant. It was delicious. The staff were very friendly and there are plenty of vegan options available; just ask for the vegan menu. The prices were very affordable as well. The only weird thing was that everything came with a side of french fries, including the mac and cheese that my non-vegan brother ordered.

We enjoyed the haggis fritters, which were excellent with generous portions and good value. The garlic mushroom starter was also fantastic. The service was great, and the friendly staff were happy to accommodate our vegan preferences.
