After I had eaten here several times, my husband and I broke about how great it was. big mistake! it was a past since we had visited and not sure what happened, but it was terrible. we were the first customers in the door to open, but the floor was dirty and it was müll in the floor right in front of the door. no big deal? can not be disturbed to pick up from the floor, what else will be wrong? service was not good.... The service was disappointing as well. The waitress was unfriendly and served our coffee with her whole hand over the top of the cups. I truly suspect the coffee was leftover from the night before because it was extremely bitter and cold. When we asked for fresh coffee, it was still subpar. We ordered a bit of everything, hoping to enjoy a variety, but the experience left much to be desired.
The service was not good at all. The waitress was unfriendly, and when she brought our coffee, she grabbed one of the cups by the rim with her whole hand. I truly believe the coffee was leftover from the night before because it was extremely bitter and cold. We asked for fresh coffee, but she messed that up too. Between us, we ordered a little bit of everything, and it just didn't live up to our memories.
This experience was truly disappointing. The grits were flavorless and seemed like they came straight from a packet, served in a small stainless steel ramekin typically used for ketchup and mustard. In North Carolina, I expected home fries, not hash browns, which is more common in the South. Additionally, the biscuit was extremely dry; it shouldn’t require butter to be enjoyable.
After dining here several times, my husband and I had been praising how wonderful this place was. What a mistake! It had been a while since our last visit, and I don’t know what went wrong, but it was a terrible experience. We were the first customers through the door when it opened, yet the floor was dirty and there was trash right in front of the entrance. Not a big deal? If they can't even bother to pick up trash, what else could be amiss? The service was subpar. Our waitress was unfriendly and served our coffee by grabbing the cups from the top, which felt unsanitary. I honestly believe the coffee was leftover from the night before—it was weak, bitter, and cold. When we requested fresh coffee, she brought decaf instead. Our group ordered a variety of dishes, but the overall experience was disappointing.
The best food in the High country.
