Menu

A complete menu of Bernard's from Baker featuring all 24 meals and drinks can be found here on the menu.

This family-run Baker eatery delivers genuine Southern comfort—creamy mac and cheese, standout peach cobbler and pralines—served cafeteria-style in a cozy, homey setting. Friendly staff and generous dessert options keep locals and families coming back, though service can be slow, portions feel small for the price, and some dishes arrive warm rather than hot. Occasional early kitchen closures and canned-style sides have been noted, but overall clean, soulful cooking and unlimited coffee refills make it a charming hometown destination near the zoo and Greenwood Park.

Was Cathy Davis Dauthier at Bernard's a mag?
Bernards' Pralines are undoubtedly the best reason to put an end to making pralines at home. They are absolutely delicious! I can't fathom how they could be improved—they have perfected the recipe, preparation, and shipping; everything is just right! This is one purchase you'll never regret, whether it's a gift or a treat for yourself. I haven't had the chance to try their lunches yet, but I can't imagine they wouldn... View all feedback.

What James L dislikes about Bernard's:
I ate here on 9-17 -2016 and it was just okay. My plate consisted of what may have been the smallest turkey wing I have ever seen in my life. White beans and rice steamed broccoli and salad. The best-tasting items on the plate were the white beans and rice and the steam broccoli. The turkey wing again was small, dry and flavorless. The service was okay , as for the price I was willing to pay for it so it was okay. I... View all feedback.

Wow, this food is absolutely delicious! It's the best soup food you can find. The meals are served cafeteria style, and the cooks really know what they're doing. You can choose a main dish and then pick from a wide variety of sides. After that, you find a seat to enjoy your meal. The staff is very friendly and helpful, especially with first-time visitors. If you still have room after all that food, their desserts are fantastic too. They have a large selection of cookies, cobblers, pies, cakes, and more. My partner was really satisfied with everything, and we’re definitely looking forward to coming back soon.

What a wonderful southern gem. I ate here on my way to Natchez after a long flight. I was welcomed with a smile and served the quintessential southern food that I had been craving. The shrimp and grits were amazing. I am glad to see that southern hospitality and pride are still going strong at Bernards.

Purchased meatball and spaghetti special. The meatballs were seasoned well but the sauce was tasteless and unseasoned. The sides of lima and green beans were straight from the can.
