Circa 1880 - Baird
Circa 1880
Description
Tucked in Baird, Circa 1880 serves hearty Southern comfort with generous portions—standout catfish, patty melts, cheese sticks and a much‑talked‑about chicken‑fried steak—though consistency can vary. The value is excellent: all‑you‑can‑eat nights, a salad bar, kids’ meals with dessert and whole‑cake options for groups. Rustic, nostalgic decor and friendly servers add charm, but expect long waits and occasional issues with frying or seasoning. Family‑friendly and popular with locals and road‑trippers seeking classic homestyle fare.

We're so pleased we discovered this restaurant during our travels! It has a lovely, cozy atmosphere, a great variety of menu options, and reasonable prices. The hamburger steak was absolutely delicious, and the onion rings had the perfect texture. My husband really enjoyed his beer-battered fish, and the portion was enormous! We shared our meals with our two young kids, and there was still plenty left over. If we ever pass through this area again, we would definitely love to visit once more! The historic downtown buildings and murals were a charming touch, too.
The food was incredible! The jalapeño patty melt wasn't very spicy, but it was absolutely delicious! My husband ordered the chicken-fried steak, along with mashed potatoes and fried okra. Everything came in generous portions and was fantastic! The restaurant has an old charm with a nostalgic western vibe. We'll definitely be back soon!
I just did a quick search for restaurants nearby while on a road trip and stumbled upon this gem. The waitress, Michelle, was incredibly friendly and charming. While I didn’t meet the chef, he prepared the best patty melt I have ever tasted. I will definitely be dining here again!
I had an amazing experience at this restaurant, despite the busy lunch rush. The portion sizes were huge! I ordered the Smothered Chicken entrée, and it was incredibly tasty. The fried onion rings were outstanding—hands down the best I've ever had! They had a light, crispy batter and sweet, mild onions that weren't greasy or overcooked at all. I highly recommend this place!
