Chi'lantro - Austin
Chi'lantro
Description
Chi'Lantro offers a unique Asian fusion dining experience with a fast-casual Chipotle-style service. Although some diners found the brown rice texture unpleasant and felt that the Asian options were lacking, the service received high marks for friendliness. Unfortunately, a few patrons reported getting sick after eating at the restaurant and called for a health inspection. On a more positive note, others praised the flavorful dishes, especially highlighting the Soy Glazed Chicken and the variety of menu choices. The sweet potato noodles, house sauces, and the option to add a fried egg were noted as standout features. The restaurant also received accolades for accommodating vegan and vegetarian diets. Customers also commended Chi'Lantro for its fresh and hot food, friendly service, and cozy ambiance. Despite some issues with order accuracy and noise levels in the kitchen, visitors overall enjoyed their meals and expressed a desire to return to try more items from the menu.

Chi'Lantro is a Korean BBQ restaurant with a Chipotle-style concept. I ordered the noodle bowl featuring Korean BBQ steak, caramelized kimchi, grilled corn, and Korean esquites. While I typically enjoy corn, I wasn’t fond of their grilled corn or the esquites; there was something about their flavor that didn’t sit right with me. However, I found the rest of the dish to be really delicious, and I would certainly order the noodle bowl with steak and caramelized kimchi again.
Oh my goodness, the best food I've ever had—it's officially my new obsession! You have to try the kimchi fries; they taste like heaven!
I visited this restaurant for the first time after getting a recommendation from someone familiar with the food truck scene, and I wasn't disappointed. I tried the spicy pork rice bowl with kimchi, and it was delicious. The line moved quickly, and there was plenty of seating available, making it an ideal spot for lunch. I would definitely return to explore more items on the menu.
We really enjoyed the atmosphere at this Chilantro. It was a relaxed and quiet fast-casual spot. The ladies behind the counter were incredibly sweet and attentive, making it fun to talk and place our orders with them. Personally, I believe that friendly staff contributes to delicious food, and this team was definitely friendly. We ordered the rice bowl, and as someone who leans more toward the carnivore side, I found the meat to be flavorful and tender, which complemented the rest of the bowl perfectly. The rice was fluffy and delicious, and the corn and greens were fresh. We sat at the high-tops inside while we waited for our Uber, and we finished our drinks at an outside table. I would recommend both seating areas; however, I'm not certain if the outside area is covered, as it wasn't raining during our visit.
Chi'Lantro serves tasty food, but it used to be truly exceptional. Their bowls are flavorful, but the burger, which is rarely available now, was remarkable. The kimchi fries are a must-try and incredibly enjoyable. It's a healthy choice, and you can have a great dining experience there. However, it’s important to note that Chi'Lantro was once considered one of the best food trucks in Austin, and it has now become just another decent restaurant in the area.
