I am a very understanding individual, and I’ve worked in the food industry with understaffing. But this was the worst dining experience I’ve ever had. To start, my fish sandwich still had the skin on it so I gave it back but was offered nothing toreplace it. My wife’s $20+ chicken salad was romaine lettuce from the grocery store with a wad of chicken placed on top(uncut). I could’ve made this at home for $3. Another person had cold potatoes and broccoli. Some people got their dinners20-30 minutes before others and the first ones to eat were those who got the grilled cheese. Why in the world would you cookthat first when you know it’s the easiest thing to make? We as the guests ended up being the ones to fill everyone’s waterback up, otherwise I’d still be waiting to have it refilled. There was only one waitress to cover the bar, food, and it wasfor an 85th birthday party for around 20-25 people (we were the only ones there). If you couldn’t handle the party size, youshouldn’t have accepted to host; and that’s a management problem. Very disappointed in a place where they charge you an armand a leg to just eat there. This is the definition of ripping people off. You’re supposed to eat what you pay for and Iwould’ve rather gone down the street to McDonalds and paid them the prices I was being charged. It’s a shame such a niceplace doesn’t live up to the expectations of the pricing on their menu. I will never come back to this place and I hope othersthink twice before deciding to open their wallets and eat here.
We ordered the ribs, and as Chicago natives, we know what good ribs taste like. Paws' ribs are the best we've had in the 25 years since leaving Chicago. The meat was perfectly cooked, the sauce was outstanding, and they weren’t dry at all. The portion size was generous; we shared a full rack and even had leftovers! (They should definitely offer a half rack option.) We took a moment to thank the chef personally for the incredible meal. Thank you for a wonderful dinner!
During my stay at the Bertram Inn, I attempted to place a pickup order over the phone, but unfortunately, the restaurant did not answer. So, I decided to go down in person to place my order with a server at the sushi bar. After waiting for 30 minutes without any update, I had to inquire about my food, at which point my order was finally provided. Although the restaurant wasn’t busy, it felt like I had been overlooked. Once I returned to my room and opened my meal, I discovered that they had forgotten my son's hot dog. This meant I had to head back to the restaurant again, resulting in another 10-minute wait. The spaghetti squash had a strange taste reminiscent of solidified white wine, which was quite unappetizing. The salmon was acceptable, the Brussels sprouts and tempura asparagus were decent, but the hot dog turned out to be the highlight of the meal. The fries, on the other hand, were very bland. Given this experience, I would prefer to grab snacks from the front desk rather than dine at the restaurant again, even in a pinch while staying at the hotel.
This is the worst pizza I’ve ever eaten. It had no cheese, no sauce, and no toppings at all. Do yourself a favor and skip this place—just head to Aldi and grab a $6 pizza instead.
