This place is so lovely the food, the surroundings and the shop. The 5 star reviews aren’t wrong but there’s a couple of things that drag down the overall experience: the queueing system is inefficient and impractical queuing through the shop just feels a bit uncomfortable; and the use of disposable coffee cups is unnecessary for coffee and soup when everyone was staying in to eat, it felt like such a waste. The Old Yard is a beautiful place. The outdoor dining is second to none and the food, all freshly prepared is delicious. The cakes are scrumptious, every single different cake. I know because I have probably tried every variety they have made and there are a lot. The staff are so friendly and efficient and they make you feel so welcome. Bonus for dog owners…you can bring your dog with you.

The service here is unbelievably slow. We have been here a few times since The Old Yard opened after lockdown. On three occasions we left because the queues hardly moved and tje service was so slow. If you have the time to hang around it's worth the wait but the slow service has put us off coming again. They need to get more service staff or review their service process to make customer waiting times more acceptable. People are happy to wait a bit longer on account of lockdowns and to support this business but even so wait times are far too long.
Excellent. A culinary treat for any food lover. Thoughtfully crafted in every aspect. I highly recommend it.
Great atmosphere and excellent service. We will definitely be coming back!
