My 8 year old daughter actually selected the restaurant from Yelp and I was skeptical until I read the reviews and saw the pictures. So we were one of the first tables to arrive with nThe space is simple but cute. The waitstaff is so friendly and attentive. We order the pizza margharita and roasted cauliflower to start. Then Nonna's meatballs and the lasagna. Everything was pretty good but not hot! The pizza was serv... View all feedback.
What Tiff M doesn't like about Cornicello:
I went here for a romantic dinner and all we got was the wrong drinks with either uncooked or too mushy pasta dishes that taste like pure salt. I wrote a review on their Instagram and of course they deleted it. Don't be fool by the ambience. Now I know why the parking lot, let alone the restaurant was nearly empty. Don't waste your money, time or your tastebuds are this establishment. One star because I'm had to give... View all feedback.
Food was absolutely delicious, wine was great, service was amazing! Very cute atmosphere as well. Highly recommend.
I've been to Cornicello more than a few times now. Most recently, I had the Lasagna and finished meal with some of the new gelato on the menu. I'm a big fan of italian food and honestly, NYC is sparse on truly good italian food. Which is why I keep coming back to Cornicello. The lasagna is made to order, comes out piping hot and bursts with flavor in every layer. No joke, best lasagna I've had. In fact, every dish I've had has been stellar. The Bolognese? Rich, deep flavors. The lemon-ricotta ravioli? Incredible flavor profile with just enough of a citrus note to refresh the pallet. And can we talk about the incredibly deep flavored cacciatore?? Absolutely mind blowing flavor. Portions are big, price is right, the Foccacia for the table is 5 star alone and the tiramisu is made of delicious clouds. Go here as soon as you possibly can. I know I'll be back soon.
TLDR: I have tried this place twice and it 's okay, but don 't feel a need for a third time. have tried the Lasagna, 'Truffle Caprese ' 'The Classic ' Focaccia sandwiches, The Carbonara Farfalle with Speck requested additional chicken) pastas, the arancini, mozzarella sticks, and nonna 's meatballs. Based on 2 delivery experiences only. The first delivery was a bit wonky and I don 't actually know who was to blame, but I was missing two of the appetizers mozz sticks arancini) that I ordered. The bag wasn 't stapled closed, but when I called the restaurant they said they in fact had given those items to the Uber driver and that the bag was closed, so he may have swiped it. I actually have had this happen with an order in the past that my driver felt was to far of a distance to deliver and he took the entire thing and canceled my order. The bag didn 't have any staples showing that it had in fact been sealed other than the receipt that was pinned, but they were gracious about it and I just requested a refund via UberEats. Who 's to say what actually happened. Turns out I was missing nothing with the mozzarella sticks grande mozzarella stuffed with n 'duja, breaded and fried, served with vodka sauce) and arancini 3 smoked wagyu fat arancinis, pecorino tartufo, creme fraiche, topped with seaweed butter) which I received on the 2nd order. I prefer mozzarella sticks san meat tbh and I though the arancini were bland and could have actually used some protein. Nonna 's meatballs were fine. The lasagna was fine and I could tell was in fact homemade, but was definitely not as hearty as it could have been see pic) . The bolognese sauce seemed kinda wimpy and it was incredibly 'under sauced '. I am not a fan or being overwhelmed by sauces by any means, but I def noticed that it was disproportionate to the pasta. The Focaccia sandwiches were pretty disappointing. I love focaccia, but this wasn 't as 'seasoned ' as well as it could have been. No hint of rosemary or coarse salt at the top or anything that really made it special. Also more of an aesthetic preference, but they cut the bread vertically and I think I would have preferred it be cut horizontally. The best part is the crispy top, but tbh it was under seasoned as mentioned soI wasn 't missing anything. The sandwich innards were also not plentiful, most emphasized with the truffle caprese which barely had any burrata. The sandwich was mostly bread. The Carbonara was the most shocking to me. This didn 't taste great. I could not get over how much the pasta tasted like Top Ramen packets. The noodles were thin and not akin to the spaghetti sized noodles I thought I would be receiving. The Farfelle w Speck was also fine. Nothing to write home about. I didn 't finish either. The Tiramisu is also not worth it as it consists of mostly cream and no lady fingers. Definitely an airy dessert. Emphasis on the air part.
Amazing happy hour in Chelsea. The flan was great! *insert chef's kiss* the staff was attentive and super nice!
Very pleased with the over all dining experience! Our server Nikki was very kind and attentive! To be honest I didn’t love the sauce that came with the mozzarella sticks which was a surprise because vodka sauce is always my favorite. I attended on getting the baked vodka sauce pasta or the lasagna but changed my mind once I had tried the mozzarella sticks . The bread and margarita pizza were very fresh and delicious! I loved how thin the crust came out We also had the Tagliatelle ala Gricia tasted different from what we had in the past but still was very good . We then finish our meal with the tiramisu dessert it was fantastic light and so delicious the portion size was very generous! I want to see this place do well so I will be sure to let our friends in the neighborhood know about this place ! Pros they have a great clean newly renovated space in Astoria Manor Very friendly staff many options to choice from off the menu Cons the wine is all organic and unfiltered so may not be everyone’s choice of preference. Locations can be hard to find if your aren’t familiar with the neighborhood but the signage is great! We will definitely be back to try more options off the menu definitely looking forward to our next return @urbanfoodgirl
