Just back from an excellent meal in Armagh City Hotel. We ate in the Callan Bar. We were enticed in by the special offer 'Sugar and Spice ' menu and it lived up to expectations. We had the Chilli burger and the Chicken curry and both were excellent with good portions and quality above that which you would expect from a bar menu. The restaurat and bar area were warm clean and comfortable and there was a really nice at... View all feedback.
What Gwen M doesn't like about Friary:
A meal on the road for us and we were glad to be looked after. With a restricted diet for my guy, there were many dishes he couldn't order so we both went for steak. The description of what came with the steak took up more space on the menu than it did on the plate! In order to get a balanced meal and enough to eat, we had to order veg side dish. We heard others nearby who seemed to do the same. For £20 should you ge... View all feedback.
My elderly parents eat here regularly, I joined as a guest today. Cornelia the restaurant manager and her staff were excellent with us., they are a credit her and themselves. The restaurant was better staffed than most I have been in recently and very attentive with their service. They know how to look after my parents needs and that of young families alike. I would be pleased to have them work with my business. Thank you
We had one dinner and two breakfasts in the hotel. Food at every one was wonderful. Very pleasant staff. Nice variety on the breakfast buffet.
We also stayed in the hotel , so we had breakfast and evening meals for 2 days, have not tasty food as good any were staff were a credit to the restaurant warm and welcoming no long wait for food and on the saturday it was very busy one word perfect
We went to the Friary as a family of 6 (3 adults 3 children) at the weekend. The restaurant was very busy, though we had booked our table earlier in the week. We were seated drink orders taken straight away. The good points the food was excellent. We ordered mains of sea bass, pork belly rack of lamb. All the food was cooked to perfection with good selection of sides. Could not fault the main meals. For dessert we ordered profiteroles 2 Key Lime pies. We were given profiteroles 2 Malteser Cheesecakes... The bad points ok so we were given the wrong desserts, which was not great. But we were getting the desserts for free, because we were left waiting almost an hour for main courses! The problem was that just before we went into the restaurant, a huge group (maybe 15 adults approx 15 children) were seated. The kids were rowdy running around so staff were under alot of pressure. The adults werent much better... Just as we were about to complain about our wait, the manageress approached us to apologise for the delay, offered either free desserts or a free round of drinks as way of apology. She apologised a few times for the delay genuinely tried her best to sort it out. Despite the delay, i would definitely go back to the Friary. The food was lovely
Busy, buzzing restaurant. Very good quality food and excellent food temperature. Staff helpful and friendly.
