The curry was an alarming shade of red an... read more I decided to try a takeaway from a different place since my usual spot, Flamingo's, was closed. I regret it immensely! The curry was an alarming shade of red and tasted horrible. There were no real flavors—just a strong, overwhelming taste of curry powder. The worst part was the naan bread; I ordered a garlic green chili naan, and it was drenched in grease. It tasted like the cheap garlic margarine you’d find on supermarket garlic bread. I paid £12.50 for just the chicken curry sauce and a naan, which is way overpriced. You can find much cheaper options elsewhere, even in the city. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. If you want takeout, go to Flamingo’s across from the station, and if you prefer dining in, head to No 28 instead. The Akash should seriously reconsider its offerings! Other review sites claim it's the first place sailors visit when they return to port, but not me—not after this experience. NEVER AGAIN!

The prices were reasonable, and the staff were exceptional, even managing to keep my one-year-old entertained. I will definitely be coming back! The restaurant has a bit of an old-school vibe, which I think only enhances its charm.
