Contribute FeedbackThe restaurant, located by the sea, disappoints with frozen food and lackluster seafood. Unattended tables, sticky decor, and incomplete dishes left diners dissatisfied. Inconsistent service, average food quality, and unprofessional staff further marred the experience. Despite this, the picturesque location and ample parking were highlighted. However, reviews also praised fresh oysters, delicious mussels, and fish and chips, with friendly service and cozy atmosphere receiving accolades. Overall, mixed reviews indicate a potential for improvement in food quality, service standards, and management oversight at this marina-side pub.
Good food overlooking the marina in croabh haven. The menu had lots to choose from and staff were very helpful. Be careful to check opening times especially out with high season.
So... you have this fantastic location and a fairly well off clinetele and all you can manage is frozen food. On top of all that you 're right next to the sea. No decent seafood. I suspect even the 'local ' mussels were from the local Co op in Loch Gilphead or the local Tesco in Oban.
We were delighted with the varied menu, the service and the quality of the food so much that we returned later that week! As a group of 9 (6 adults and 3 young kids we were initially worried about the suitability of the venue for us but the staff made us very welcome and were great with the kids.
Just had chicken and bacon burger no bacon. Firstly waited 15 minutes to get served (not busy) went to bar asked if you order the bar told yes, table next to me had order taken table,. Make your mind up. Food average at best. When I told staff no bacon got a och did you not. No loo paper, I will not be back. Staff need training not their fault. All in all as local cannot recommend here.
Having been here several times over the 5 years pre Covid, I was really looking forward to enjoying my birthday meal here with my wife. We made a 2 hour detour just to come here, but what a disappointment! My Cullen skink starter was basically a bowl of smoky tasting cream with some raw onion spread over the top. I had mussels for the main, they were supposed to come with crusty bread I found the bread in with the mussels rather than on a separate plate, and it definitely wasn’t crusty! My wife had the langoustines which we were asked if she wanted hot or cold. She ordered them hot when they arrived the shells were warm, but the meat inside was cold. When I mentioned this to the staff I was told “we have quite an executive chef” and when I explained that my wife was a food safety consultant she just stuck her nose in the air. I did ask the waitress if the place had changed hands since Covid and she confirmed that it was under new management. What used to be a lovely pub restaurant is worse than a Wetherspoons but at three times the price. The service was friendly, but poor as we had our food and drink delivered with no time between courses to allow the food to digest. Add to that, their fire exit was half blocked by a table, the fire extinguisher was on the floor with no signage and the illuminated fire exit sign wasn’t illuminated. Not safe for food, not safe for fire and very disappointing all round. I won’t be coming back unless it changes hands again or they get a decent chef rather than an”executive” one.
