We're on a bit of a tour of Scotland, and spent a few days at an airbnb in Fionnphort. Within walking distance of our accommodation was this restaurant, which has won awards for its cuisine. View all feedback.
What salfordmasher doesn't like about Ninth Wave:
You have to travel a long way to get to this restaurant and sadly it is not worth the effort. The menu is comically overwritten and the food is overcomplicated, underseasoned and ungenerous. The owner/waiter/fisherman would be better spending his time fishing for bigger scallops rather than struggling as front of house/waiter, as on the night I visited he seemed very stressed out which created a rather manic atmosphe... That is an exceptional location. there is a session per night (only with reservation). the restaurant is a creative striving for man and woman.
Very beautiful restaurant and eating is exquisite and tastefully presented. I had dinner a couple of years ago and how to have, I had a reservation for just.
If you get the opportunity go and enjoy lunch at Carla Lamont's lovely little restaurant. The fish depends what John catches and Carla's take on local produce and foraged food and inspiration from her travels. Absolutely superb service too.
Absolutely a must visit for lunch. The presentation and attention to detail are spot on. Caral explains the thought behind every course and the history of the produce on the plate. This was our 2nd visit and again were blown away by the taste sensation. Simply superb.
We were lucky enough to find this wee place and get a table on a recent visit to Mull. Wow! This was a unique dining experience. The four courses were exquisite and it was so hard to choose between them. The photos show only how beautifully presented they were but they can’t convey the depth of flavour that was packed into each mouthful or the quality of the ingredients and cooking. John and Carla have created something really magical here and it was a treat to be served by the man himself. Haute cuisine without a shred of pretension. A rare find! Go!
