Basil Cafe, situated in Appleton, presents a diverse blend of Thai and Laotian cuisine that has captivated many diners. While some patrons rave about its fresh ingredients and warm service, others express disappointment over fluctuating food quality and portion sizes. Favorites like drunken noodles and flavorful chicken dishes often delight, yet some menu items, such as mango boba tea and vegetarian options, have drawn critiques for unusual flavors. Was AMANDA SILVA at Basil Café a mag?
The food at this restaurant is amazing! I definitely recommend checking it out. However, I'm a bit confused because every time we pass by, regardless of the time, it appears to be closed or there are no cars parked outside. Overall, I would rate the food a 4, the service a 3, and the atmosphere a 3. View all feedback.

What A dislikes about Basil Café:
The beef from the mansa was incredibly cheap not even the curry that comes with it could override the flavour however, the nuggets are so very delicious so that saved it from a 2/5 stars to a 3/5 stars. The purple drink I had (I can't remember the name) really didn't taste like anything but lime juice so that was a 2/10, being generous. The entrance was quite notably the worst, confusing and out of place to say the l... View all feedback.

My daughter and I went out for an early dinner. We arrived at 445pm and there were already tables of people! We ordered spring rolls to start. They are HUGE! They came with a side of peanut sauce which was very tasty. Then we split the Vietnamese omelette and basil fried rice. The omelette was also huge (and $20), and it was extremely oily. It was really in a pool of oil. We could only eat the top half because of this. The basil fried rice was good. Rice was a little mushy, flavor was good. The coconut infused water was interesting and the service was really fast. I'd need to try 2 new dishes to be impressed.

This is my favorite restaurant! The service is wonderful and so is the food. I've been here many times over the last 10 years it's still a treat. My favorite is the Thai Lo Mein. The vibe inside the restaurant is really nice and chill, with plenty of speciality drinks. Highly recommended!

The food is pretty bad, not a god Asian place. We got pad thai, pad se ew and green curry. Everything was cooked in a gloppy syrup consistency, not normal. Price was also insane.

I ordered the papaya salad with medium spice, but what I received was more like black pepper level. I had to request some chili flakes on the side, but even that didn’t provide any real heat. This place doesn't truly represent Asian cuisine due to its lack of authenticity and necessary ingredients. If you're going to serve Lao papaya salad, please use genuine ingredients like fermented spices! When I inquired about the papaya salad, the waitress confirmed it didn’t include fish sauce or fermented ingredients. That’s why I opted for the massaman curry instead, although I’ve had a spicier, more authentic Indian version before. You mentioned that I could have asked for chili oil or Bird's Eye peppers, but there was no indication that such options were available. If you want to be recognized as an authentic Lao restaurant, you need to ensure you include the right fermented ingredients and other essentials. Best of luck!

Food was fantastic! Service was great, the people are wonderfully friendly and the food came in a timely fashion. The Basil chicken was very good, and I had a vegetarian dish that was one of the best! Definitely recommend if you like Thai Food.
