Reviews - Sawadee Thai Anglesea
Reviews summary
Nestled in a cozy yet compact space, this restaurant offers a mixed bag of Thai culinary experiences. While the green curry and spring rolls shine with flavor, other dishes like Pad Thai have drawn criticism for tasting overly sweet and lacking authenticity. Diners appreciate the friendly staff, though the dining environment can feel cramped. Many recommend takeout for a more enjoyable experience, citing both delicious food options and convenient online ordering. Despite some service hiccups and inconsistencies in dish quality, the overall reception reflects a willingness to return for standout items that satisfy the palate amidst the quieter offerings.

This small Thai restaurant in Anglesea is conveniently situated alongside other shops and eateries. The staff is friendly, making for a welcoming atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed the food, particularly the green curry, pad phrik, noodle soup, and spring rolls. Everything was delicious and well presented. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great Thai food! View all feedback.
What Anonym dislikes about Sawadee Thai Anglesea:
We ordered three takeaway Pad Thai—two with chicken and one with beef. Unfortunately, it was terrible. It tasted like a mix of sweet chili sauce and tomato sauce stirred into overcooked noodles, then topped with chicken. I couldn't finish mine. I'm sorry to say we won't be returning. Overall, I would rate it as follows: - Food: 4 - Service: 5 - Atmosphere: 5 For dinner, the price per person was around A$20–40.
Very nice Thai food. The vegetables were fresh, not frozen. Good sized portions. Quick and friendly service. Quite a few vegan options. We requested no fish sauce and the chef accommodated us with this. An excellent experience. Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegan options. If you don't want fish sauce, just tell the waiter or chef Dietary restrictions: Plenty of vegan options. The hokkien noodles were only slightly better — they also had almost no flavor and shared the same vegetables as the pad Thai. The chicken was overcooked and bland. As for the satay chicken skewers, they were equally disappointing. The chicken breast was tough and overcooked, and the satay sauce was thin and tasteless. This was the first time I've left chicken skewers unfinished. Spending $60 on a Friday night for this meal was not worth it. On a positive note, the service was quick and friendly. We opted for takeaway, but the venue itself was quite nice when we picked up our order. Overall, my rating is as follows: Food: 1/5 Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 4/5 Meal type: Dinner Price: A$60–80 per person.

We visited this restaurant after hiking Iron Basin and Surf Coast. We ordered pineapple fried rice, regular fried rice, and sautéed vegetables in garlic sauce, and everything was delicious! The service was also very quick. The place has a cozy atmosphere and can accommodate about 15 people at a time.
For the first time, I discovered a Thai restaurant that didn't make me feel like I was dining in a restroom or someone's living room. It's superbly located on the second floor of the Bellevue building in Highton Village, featuring beautiful decor, an elegant atmosphere, and excellent service. The food was not only beautifully presented but also delicious.
The food is delicious, and I really appreciate the convenience of being able to order online and pick it up. The space is a bit small for dining in, but you can always enjoy your meal outside in front.
I was glad to find them open at 8:30 pm, I enjoyed the meal. No fresh orange juice though.

They never know what they get when they order from a fall Thai and/or Asian place in a country or coastal city. so it always comes as a surprise when they manage to impress. the pad thai and penang curry were both extremely sound. Now this could be due to the fact that several bottles of wine were consumed before these foods arrive, but do not let us the truth in the way of a good food yarn. painting does not shoot the lighter out in comparison to some city based Thai food, but they are certainly the kitchen respectful. malee is her go-to delivery or take the option in anglesea. the dear luncher is right.
Eating was amazing but the waiting period was longer than expected. called and the order made and said it would wait a 45 minutes. When I picked it up, I was told 20 minutes and it would be ready. from the order to pick up / payment, it was about 1 hour 45. I was one of several customers who have waited for our meal very long. here is a tip to make sure that they have a lot of time to kill after they hire their!
I'm sorry, but very despicable. fried tofu in the vegetarian entree had no season, the pad thai was quite dry and despite vegetarian it was a prawn peice in there. the massaman kartoffel spa was very good, but the vegeten were quite undercooked, especially the kartoffels as they were thrown in and cooked very quickly. will not be ordered again.
It 's as if the chefs here haven 't heard of spices. Absolutely tasteless. Spent a while on the phone waiting and listening to the employees conversation which was awkward and therefore quite an uncomfortable customer service experience (could 've pressed the hold button if it was going to take over 10 minutes?? . But the food? Bland, tough and boring. Worst $60 I ever spent and ended up in the bin : thanks but no thanks! P.S. 'Roti with satay sauce ' would usually imply that the Roti comes with sauce...
I had the pad Thai which basically tasted like tomato sauce? With hardly any veg just noodles. My friend had the larb chicken salad which consisted of one lettuce leaf and a whole onion. Won't be going back here.
