Was Maruska Villa at La Captive a mag?
Really nice meal at a very fair price. My Boreal salad was delicious. My wife liked her Sauvage wild mushroom burger and I like the mayo that came with her fries. The kids had the hot dog (a gourmet take) and were happy with it. Great atmosphere. Good beer. A good place to stop on the way back from New Brunswick. View all feedback.
What Maruska Villa dislikes about La Captive:
beer on the menu were really hit or miss. nothing extraordinary. good price, however, at $2.20 per taste. the main reason for the 3/5 is the service. sub-par service, we have space, table was still full of scurry and glasses. Our waitress has removed everything after she brought the beer. at least we wanted to delete the table that was all sticky. she was upset. never came back to clean it. another waiter came in 15... Our waitress has removed everything after she brought the beer. at least we wanted to delete the table that was all sticky. she was upset. never came back to clean it. another waiter came in 15 minutes to let us know that we couldn't sit where we were sitting from the 1st waitress, he had to move the table. our drinks almost fell down. could be a nice little place, but the service was unfortunately bad.
Monday afternoon 1:00 o'clock, waited 1 hour for 1 hamburger and a turkey sandwich. apparently there is bad blood between the kitchen staff and the staff that serves them. No one got her eating, was offered free drinks and a discount on the meal because. the terrible wait out of the kitchen. no fries with the meal, but basic potato chips. the beer of my wife (la coupable) tasted like very disappointing stop on a 13.5 hours drive.
A small beautiful place in amqui. eating is delicious and the menu is great. the beer is good, but they don't have many possibilities. a must stop in the city!
We want to thank Tripadvisor for leading us to this hidden gem. From the appetizers to the dessert, every dish was outstanding. The coffee was exceptional and the homemade bread was a nice touch.
We recently went to Val d'Irene for snowboarding and decided to stay overnight in Amqui. On Saturday evening, we walked down the main street in search of a nice place to have dinner and drinks. After passing by a dark disco and an empty pizza place, we came across what appeared to be a microbrewery called La Captive. Only one person in our group of seven spoke French, which can sometimes lead to poor service, but this was not the case at La Captive. There was only one server working that night, but she was experienced and adept at managing the dining room and bar. The beer was brewed on site (you could see the equipment through large windows) and was delicious (I highly recommend the Blonde). The menu wasn't extensive, but it catered to everyone in our group, including a vegetarian and a vegan. The food was excellent, with a focus on fresh, local ingredients. The atmosphere was charming, with dim lighting, original brick walls, and old wooden chairs. Our server was extremely helpful, accommodating, and even went out of her way to change the TV station for us. I highly recommend La Captive to anyone visiting Val d'Irene. It's a great spot for a late-night meal!
