Easy to miss on the road, they have no outside signage to speak of but it's right near the McDonalds on the road. They were featured in the now famous "Moutarde Chou" compilation and that's why I wanted to stop, did not regret it. Super nice service by friendly employees who have fun while working, I ordered Galvaude (basic poutine + chicken + green peas) and every ingredient was perfectly as expected, with a nod to a beautiful rendition for the gravy, and perfectly double-fried fries you can only find in Quebec's outlying region. If you're going this way, Cantine Fortier is highly recommended in my book. Since 1979.

Situated in Amqui, 1 hour from Matapedia where we reside, Cantine Fortier has the most delicious, reasonable breakfasts. For only .4.50 you get 2 eggs, toast, homefries, and coffee. The restaurant is always spotless, the staff is friendly and locals flock there to savour the food and the ambiance. I highly recommend it!
