Reviews - Algonquin Sub Shop
Reviews summary
This family-owned sub shop is a beloved Algonquin destination known for fresh bread, generous sandwiches, massive fries, hearty soups and homemade sweets. A wide menu includes solid vegetarian picks, and service is usually quick and friendly. Occasional drawbacks include salty fries, lukewarm sandwiches, sporadic order delays and the rare curt interaction — and prices have risen. Still, the combination of quality ingredients, variety and neighborhood charm keeps regulars coming back.

I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant, thanks to the delicious food and the friendly staff. Unlike many places where takeout fries often turn soggy from being packed too quickly, at Algonquin, they make the fries fresh when you arrive for pickup. This means you get crispy, fresh fries every single time. I highly recommend this sandwich shop! View all feedback.
What Linda Bouchareune dislikes about Algonquin Sub Shop:
I recently had lunch with a friend and unfortunately had a less than pleasant experience. Some rude teenagers handed me my food without a bag, which felt quite disrespectful. To make matters worse, the food wasn’t cooked properly, and that was really disappointing.
I hate to be harsh, but I won’t be returning. I can't take the risk of food poisoning from undercooked meat. All I want is a well-prepared meal that isn'... View all feedback.

Subs are awesome. Just don't order the Creamy Chicken soup unless you prefer mostly broth.
We had 3 italian beef and cheese sandwiches and french fries, and i'm not sure why but this time they were pretty dry and just had no flavor or spices, we were disappointed.
Food used to be really good but the last couple times there's been way too much sauce and much less other ingredients. Careful if you use their online menu, there's ingredients on the sandwiches that they don't list. I ordered the Californian and it was soaked in ranch and honey mustard.
Best subs in these parts no one comes close I even go there from Crystal lake well worth the ride keep up the good work

Sure! Here's a rewritten version of your restaurant review: "It's a lovely restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere and welcoming ambiance."
This is my favorite sub shop in northern Illinois. Even though I now live 40 minutes away, I still make the trip just for a sub and fries. It's a wonderful family-owned business. Our top picks are the Yankee Doodle and the Capicola Pomidoro. As for vegetarian options, I can think of three off the top of my head, all of which I've tried, and one has become my go-to choice.

All I want is a well-prepared meal that isn't soggy or mishandled. I really hope they can improve their staff training.

I stopped by on a whim after reading the reviews, and I can understand why this place is well-known for its sandwiches. I also tried the cheesy potato soup, which was fantastic. I'll definitely return if I'm in the area again!
If you’re tired of the usual chain sub sandwiches, you must try the Algonquin Sub Shop for something unique and tasty! This hidden gem is easy to overlook while driving by, but I had been eager to sample it for months before finally getting a day off (they're closed when I'm available). It was an absolute treat, and they even offer options for vegetarian diets! The subs are freshly made by an unexpectedly large kitchen staff. I can’t help but nearly drool when I get the sub in my truck because the aroma makes my stomach rumble. And don’t forget to try the shoestring cheese fries—they might just make you question whether Portillo's can even compete with this quaint little shop!
Algonquin Sub Shop is always an excellent choice for lunch. They offer a huge variety of sandwiches to choose from. The service is fast and friendly every time, and the food is fantastic! Thanks for being a reliable go-to spot for great local eats in Algonquin!

This place is truly unique! Dish #9 has become my lifelong favorite! I've been dining here for 20 years.
This is by far the best veggie sub I’ve ever tasted. With avocado, onion, cucumber, tomato, sprouts, mayo, and cheese, it's so satisfying that you won’t even miss the meat. The fries are just as impressive. I came across this restaurant on Algonquin's list of top eateries and decided to give it a shot. I was not disappointed!
Regardless of which sandwich you choose, it will be the best sandwich you've ever had. Algonquin Sub Shop is the only place I’m willing to drive to for food, rain or shine. It’s been a staple in our neighborhood for a long time, and we’re grateful it's so nearby.
The food at A.S.S. is consistently excellent! I’ve relocated to California, but whenever I return to Algonquin, IL, I make it a point to enjoy a meal at A.S.S.
I visited today for the first time and it was super busy! There was a line stretching out the door. The shop is small with just a few tables, so we decided to order and eat in our truck. The wait was worth it! The subs were excellent, the soup was tasty, and the chili was nice and hot, just the way we like it! The only downside is that it takes us over an hour to get there, which means I need to make the trip to Algonquin more often!
