The castell hotel is a large structure against the mountains of the beautiful engadine. it looks like a lock (here the name) and although its look is not what y... read more The castell hotel is a large structure against the mountains of the beautiful engadine. it looks like a lock (here the name) and although its look is not what you would call beautiful, it is impressive. the terrace has a great sunlight and a fantastic view. I was not very important to most other guests. they were not of the kind and social spezies. but don't let your visit scare you here. if they are outside the tourist season (or at least not during the Christmas break), it will not be very crowded and the service by the owner and his wife will be very good and friendly. the lunch menu is not very big, but there is probably something for everyone. I had the hamburger and I must say that it was one of the best I ever had. the meat was delicious and perfectly ground. every bite was a pleasure. season correctly, not too intrusive. a very pleasant experience and I hope to be back in the summer to enjoy the terrace, service and eating.

We were as a group of approx. 25 people there to eat. we could choose between two menu options. as an appetizer I chose squid carpaccio (very thin in sliced tin... read more We were as a group of approx. 25 people there to eat. we could choose between two menu options. as an appetizer I chose squid carpaccio (very thin in sliced tintenfisch.) unfortunately one did not taste much of tintenfisch. also lacked a dressing or a sauce so that the whole came a little dry. the subsequent suppe tasted a little fad, but otherwise was quite delicious. the then coming bark fillet was simply fried. without asking us, we got all fried cattle fillet for practical reasons. what I hate - I need it medium rare or English. the dessert "crème brûlée" with a ball sky is standard in any middle class restaurant. and hangs out to my neck. overall, eating was good, but without a whipped and with small mosquitoes.
