Simi is a little ways off the path from the Furi cable car station, but it was a great place to stop for lunch on the way between the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise and Gornergrat. The portions are large, and the food is delicious, heavy and filling. My wife and I shared a mixed salad and ordered our own mains that each included a rösti (Swiss hash browns). We felt like we had not done enough hiking to have earned it.The 500mL beer was cold, delicious and refreshing, but I definitely felt it when we reached the summit at Gornergrat. Caveat bibitor.
Probably the best option to eat around Furi, this restaurant offers hearty dishes, perfectly prepared. The Schnitzel was thin and big, as it should be and might have been the best one I've had outside Vienna. You can get it with fries, but given the choice I had Spätzle instead. The accompanying ratatouille was really tasty, too. Dessert was, naturally, an Apfelstrudel, perfect as well.Location is great, nice view, and service impeccable. Great value for money, too.

My main dish was a daily special-- truffle risotto with rock lobster-- exquisite. The quantity of fresh truffle shavings was very generous. Paired with a local Valais wine (a Heida) this was one of my best meals on the mountain. Whether eating inside this charming chalet or outside on the (hopefully) sunny terrace, the service is friendly and efficient. If there isn't enough snow to ski down from Furi, leave your skis behind, take the elevator from Furi station and walk a few steps to the restaurant. We will be back!
We are regular visitors to Zermatt and have eaten at many a restaurant at this amazing ski resort. Simi stands out not only outstanding food, but excellent service. Stephan and his team are ultimate professionals. The food is delicious and a feast for the eyes before it even reaches your taste buds. I had the lobster and truffle risotto which was on the day's list of specials. It was superb. We were a group of 11, all served at the same time, and everyone's food was perfect - ranging from the less sophisticated croute au fromage to the refined truffle risotto. The desserts were a real treat. Great wine list. All in all my absolute favorite restaurant on the slopes. The food and service largely make up for passing on a full view of the Matterhorn (though you actually do see the tip!).
We booked the evening dining event well in advance of our trip to Zermatt for a special birthday event. We went up the cable care not knowing what to expect from the evening. When we reached the top lift station we were met by Stefan (the manager) who walked us back to the beautiful chalet. We were the only guests that evening which made the evening even more special. Stefan was a superb host and the food was exquisite. the evening will stick in our memories for a very long time thanks to the surroundings, staff and food. I would recommend the the evening dining event at Simi's to anyone considering it. Following our fantastic evening we returned to the restaurant multiple times during the rest of our holiday for lunch.
