The afternoon tea service was lackluster, with poor presentation and service, leaving much to be desired. However, the Sunday lunch received mixed reviews, with main courses being satisfactory but desserts falling short. On the other hand, other meals like fish and chips and dinner were well-received, offering delicious dishes and excellent service. The location across from York Minster provided a charming atmosphere, though some reviewers noted the need for better signage. Overall, the restaurant in Dean's Court hotel received positive feedback for competent service, memorable dining experiences, and a cozy ambiance.
We walked into DCH restaurant in the middle of the day, looking for a meal after finding the kitchens in other pubs closed. We were pleasantly surprised by the charming and inviting atmosphere of the restaurant. We ordered the traditional fish and chips with salad on the side, and they were delicious. The restaurant is located across from York Minster, making it a great place to dine with a view.
My partner and I had dinner at this restaurant while visiting York. We both enjoyed two courses and found all four dishes to be delicious. The service was excellent as well. I believe they could attract more customers if they displayed a menu outside of the restaurant. I would definitely return.
As a resident of York some friends and I decided to book afternoon tea, we did this on line and arrived at 14 00pm, it took awhile for a staff member to appear and they had no record of our booking. We were asked to wait and a table was prepared, we sat in window seat over looking Minster as there was a parade on Our order was taken and it arrived, three tier cake stand, for myself, three sandwiches of egg, salmon, ham The next tier one scone thick cream and jam , no butter The top tier two small shot glasses with strawberry moose and four very small cakes Pot of Earl grey tea for two No garnish, no table cloth, no small bowl of crisps, no sense of occasion I ordered another tier, but this did not arrive and we saw the waiter riding off on his bike, no hand over The extra tea and extra crisp arrived finally The bill including a glass of wine 80 pound! Poor service, no checks on us, we were the only ones in having tea and I am not surprised Will not go again despite location, four star hotel maybe but one star for afternoon tea
Whilst staying at the Dean Court Hotel, my wife and I took afternoon tea in their restaurant and it was excellent. There was a good selection of sandwiches, sausage rolls, scones with jam and cream and a selection of cakes. All washed down, of course, with a pot of Yorkshire tea. First class!
Lovely food which is presented beautifully. Staff are friendly and helpful. Have had 2 evening meals and 2 breakfasts and thoroughly enjoyed them all. Would definitely recommend.
