Located in the scenic Yarra Valley, this restaurant is situated in a charming stable with gorgeous garden surroundings. The young and enthusiastic staff were knowledgeable and eager to provide excellent service, especially after weeks of Covid lockdowns. The set menu is priced at around $70 per person, but we chose to indulge in extra desserts and a bottle of Moët, bringing the cost closer to $170 per head. However,... View all feedback.
What Adrian T doesn't like about The Stables at Stones of the Yarra Valley:
HUGE BILLS, tiny portions. This place is a scam. They charge ridiculously high prices and serve NOTHING in return. The only thing this restaurant is good at is ripping all its customers off. View all feedback.
Fabulous service, creative innovative food cooked to perfection!!!!!!!! From smoked venison, truffle gnocchi, wagyu to die for, beer curd with artichoke ice cream, BBQ chocolate etc etc and perfectly paired wine- Wow wow wow- we'll be back!
We dropped in at Meletos(next door) but the queue was hours long and they were kind enough to refer us to the The Stones for a table. We have a shared meal of 4 starters and 2 mains with fennel salad and roasted potatoes. We ate at the Stables , which has been converted into a nice warm restaurant. The service was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed the set menu.
We had tried to get into this restaurant twice before, but been unable to because it was full. Third time certainly was lucky, and for my wife's birthday too! While a downpour greeted our arrival at the restaurant the warmth of the greeting by the staff quickly made up for the inclement weather. The setting is simply stunning. The arrangement of the tables cleverly achieves intimacy, we sat at one end of a gorgeous wooden table, while three others sat at the other end. A floral arrangement between us acted as a perfect barrier. The service was understated, professional and attentive but never pushy. The gaps between the entree platters and the main platters left sufficient time for you to enjoy the surroundings. The food was exceptional, providing an interesting mix of textures and flavours, the fennel and pomegranate salad was a highlight. We will definitely be back. Summer time sitting in the garden soaking in the views of the Yarra Valley represents something worth looking forward to!
Excellent fixed price 3 course, ok with a few choices, great service, wine difficult to understand, they should recommend a wine with a set menu, great food and good value.
This is the best wedding venue I have ever experienced. It is stunning! Beautiful, sweeping views of the Yarra Valley, high performing staff members that create a 10/10 experience, Chef's Hat quality food and historical dwellings that create the perfect setting to share a meal and a few beverages with family and friends. We enjoy lunch here several times per year and have never been let down to this day.
