I absolutely adore this restaurant! If you're looking to experience a truly enchanting place on land, then this is the spot for you. You can explore their farm and purchase some of the most unique and delicious local fare. The staff are incredibly friendly and well-informed. They even designed and built the beautiful country house, right down to the wooden floors. This is a must-see destination in the stunning Yamhill district. Whether you make it a day trip or include it as a highlight on a wine tour, I highly recommend visiting this gem of a restaurant.
Once you try the beef at this restaurant, sourced locally from Kookoolan Farm, you won't want to go back to store-bought meat! We were incredibly pleased with our 1/4 pound burger and had no idea what we were missing out on.
I believe it is the most delicious chicken I have ever tasted. I am eagerly looking forward to my next visit to the northwest!
Amazing tasting bark, lamb and chicken. only agricultural products are high quality. highly recommended!
I've been a long-time customer (lost track of how many years), but I love how Kookoolan is continuously evolving. Every time I visit the farm store I find something new, and tasty. Like wasabi, and hazelnuts. The mainstay for me is the beef share, and although their beef has always been wonderful, the packaging has improved dramatically over the last few years. It now takes less space than the classic layers-of-butcher paper, and I've discovered it's very convenient for a worknight dinner. It takes a matter of seconds to slice the metal ends off the hamburger rolls, and defrost them to a manageable state on a plate in the microwave, before I put them into whatever meal I'm making. I think burgers and meatloaf come out fluffier if shaped gently while still partially frozen, it keeps them from getting so compacted. The steak packages I defrost just enough to pull them apart, much easier with plastic than paper, and then I let them take a tour of the smoker before (briefly) grilling. The flavorful result is med-rare in the middle, seared on the outside, and tender enough to cut with a fork.
