My family and I were looking for a casual place to have dinner together. Unfortunately, our first choice was fully booked for an event. A friend suggested we try the Gladstone Hotel in Newbridge, which is a bit out of the way but definitely worth the trip. It turned out to be a charming country pub with delicious food, friendly service, and quick wait times. I highly recommend this hidden gem for a fantastic and relaxed dining experience.
For whatever reason, we decided to drive to Newbridge for lunch. Wrong day, there was some sort of Heritage event about the old church, so the place was packed. Two poor serving staff running the bar and taking meal orders were overwhelmed. By the time I ordered a Tooheys new, it was Tooheys Old!. Never mind, rather that wait for a table, we sat outside and had a hamburger each, very tasty and well presented, even after a considerable wait. Next time we will check local events before attending
We had a fantastic dinner at this restaurant on a peaceful Saturday night. The staff were very welcoming and attentive, and the food was both delicious and reasonably priced. The cozy fire added to the ambiance of the nicely decorated dining area. Newbridge is a charming town just a scenic drive away from Bathurst.
Have been here twice now for lunch on a weekend and it has always been quiet. Imagine it picks up at night time. Meals were good size and good value. Cost us less then $40 for burger and chips, Chicken Schnitzel and Veg and 2 soda waters. There is an area out the back that allows for covered alfresco eating plus inside areas. Typical Aussie order at the bar but meals delivered to the table. The only issue we had was the veg can in a tomato type sauce which was not to my liking and the burger had garlic dressing of some sort and my wife smelt of garlic for 2 days!!! Would I go back for another meal, definitely.
This charming pub is located in a beautiful spot. The staff were welcoming, and the draft beer was a delightful treat after a long break from 'real' drinks. The rissoles and mashed potatoes were enjoyed by the cozy fireplace, and this simple meal made the evening even more special. I will definitely return.
