Reviews summary
Ounce Restaurant has garnered a spectrum of responses, highlighting both stellar and lackluster moments. Diners rave about the exceptional steaks, claiming them to be among the best they've encountered. The Sunday roast received commendation for its flavorful beef and vibrant vegetables, though some noted a surprising charge for extra gravy. Service experiences vary; while many praised attentive staff, others reported a rushed atmosphere. Dietary flexibility came under scrutiny, particularly regarding gluten-free options. Despite these discrepancies, many guests express a strong desire to return, drawn by the promise of culinary excellence and a delightful ambiance.

Went to Ounce for a meal with my family and girlfriends family with a table of 6. The decor is beautiful, the food was lovely and service was brilliant. Everybody had a lovely meal. Most had the butchers cut at a pound an ounce which I would highly recommend. Two of our party had chateaubriand which was thoroughly enjoyed. The service throughout the meal was truly excellent. We had one server who dealt with us all night young guy with a couple of tattoos on his arms. He was there when you needed him and nothing was too much trouble. Plenty of character and was happy to take the custard on the dessert back to the kitchen on 3 occasions to cater for guests with differing tastes. Overall, an excellent experience and will certainly be going back.
We had a family meal to celebrate my wife's birthday, the food and service were great. My criticism is I'm coeliac and whilst ordering my meal I was told they don't stock gluten free bread or crackers , but did cater for vegetarians and vegans which are lifestyle choices not a medical condition like coeliac disease. I had to eat my starter without bread and couldn't have the cheese board because they had no crackers. These days both are readily available in most supermarkets but they couldn't be bothered to stock them. Very disappointed.
This is purely a personal preference but, I wasn't too happy about a largish dog standing at the next table. Dogs in a pub garden are fine but I don't think it appropriate in a restaurant that is small with tables close together,
Came here after so many recommendations and it didn’t disappoint. Lunchtime on a Saturday, glass of wine and shared the chateaubriand, cooked to perfection and highly recommend the Cauli cheese! Can’t wait to come back!

WOW WOW WOW!!! Without a doubt, this is the best Sunday lunch I've ever had in my 50 years! The beef was unbelievable, the vegetables were tasty, and the bone marrow jus was amazing. You have to check this place out.
Visited on a number of occasions with friends and family and have been very satisfied with food and staff, hence repeated visits. Had a disappointed experience with my partner and grandson awhile back but gave it another go on NYE which was fab. Unfortunately we visited today, not busy only four tables. We waited over 50 minutes for our food. The food was nice. Pricing has gone up so much. The Thursday special is still £30 for two but now you have to purchase chips and salad each which now makes it £42 plus any other extras. That’s one hell of an increase without people realising. Not sure we will return.
Highly recommend. The best steak around, I’ve been 4 times and every time the quality is amazing. Even better on the £1 an ounce days a cheap, high quality meal! The staff are really friendly and welcoming too. Great place : !
After hearing so many amazing reviews, we finally visited Ounce and it did not disappoint! Highly recommend and the staff were brilliant too. The £1 an ounce deal is defo worth trying :
My first time to Ounce and I have only heard good reports. This was my experience also. We went on Tuesday so “a pound an ounce” and I thought for the quality and quantity the whole concept is really good value. Steak excellent, as were the sides and accompaniments. Also good choice of wine and cocktails and bar staff super friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend and can’t wait o return.

Our overall dining experience was fantastic. We felt a bit hurried because we arrived late and weren't aware that the table needed to be turned quickly. The steaks we ordered were delicious! Our first waitress could have been more helpful and polite, but the male waiter who took over later was outstanding and enhanced our dining experience. He even moved a noisy group of men near the entrance. We will definitely be coming back!
We had been discussing going to this restaurant for a while, and we are glad we finally did. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was laid-back.

Overall, our dining experience was excellent. We felt a bit rushed when we arrived late and didn't realize our table had been quickly turned over. The steaks were delicious and outstanding! Our initial waitress could have been more helpful and polite, but the male waiter who took over later was exceptional and enhanced our experience. He even managed a group of rowdy men near us with ease. We will definitely be returning!
I have already mentioned how the food we ordered was delicious and the atmosphere was very relaxing.
I booked a certain tabe which was confirmed, upon arrival it had not been communicated. I then had to request a quiet table,we we're moved twice. The restaurant was not that busy but I had to go to the bar for service. We we're asked for any sauces for our Aubrey ribeye steaks £25.00) each..I asked for a Bernaise which I thought quite basic for a competent chef with the business promoting their wonderful beef. Sauce request rejected. Our order came which was a nice cut but a silly bucket of Mccain type chips (some cold) with a non descript tiny salad spoilt our anticipation. The waitress was bubbly but not professional..So after all that,no starters or puds, pint and a half of coke and two pints ofcommon brand lagers, £77.00 was not good value. Bring back the Marwood!
