Old Growler - Woolloomooloo

Sat night stop for some drinks. Small selection of Draft beers (compared to many other bars). Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, and a great location being 5mins walk from Kings X station.

Just pop downstairs off William Street to this basement bar - that has food, drink and ambience. Friendly staff and good service. Ideal for a drink after work, or to meet friends for a catch up.

What a great place! Good burgers, nice atmosphere and the staff is really friendly. We ate our burgers at the bar and had a fantastic time! Would love to come back. We used a Groupon which was great value.

Loved the chips. They were cooked and flavoured to perfection with just the right amount of softness, crisp and seasoning. The burgers were really delicious and the staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. I enjoyed the atmosphere and retro music

I visited on. Wednesday, first impressions were great Claire the server is lovely and made every effort to make my visit special. The beer was good, but the food.... It's wing night so here we go, I am a self confessed wing nut, having lived in Canada and visited the spiritual home of the wing in Buffalo NY I can say these don't even come close. I would say altogether that the chef / cook here has never tasted a Buffalo wing, been to Canada or probably never even visited a decent North American bar in his life. The sauce is the bottled "wing sauce" served on the side, the wings over grilled and tasteless no blue cheese sauce or even ranch to go with it so fairly disappointing . I ordered Poutine which was fairly good which is why it gets a 2 from me, the chilli fries not so hot, dry chilli, possibly home made but tasted quite like Stagg, unmelted cheese on top and no sour cream to add interest. The reviews all rate the burgers highly but the dishes I ordered are Canadian staples and should be easily done well, not in this case.I travelled from Circular Quay to visit The Old Growler and should have stayed where I was, the ambience is nice and the place has potential but my dining experience was unauthentic, and poorly executed. I hope the owner responds as he has to other posts in the past, he needs to know that "New Chef" is fairly mediocre.
