The Queen's Oak - Wokingham
The Queen's Oak
Description
The Queen's Oak is the only pub in the country nestled in a 400-year-old building built on a Roman ruin. This proper English pub offers a selection of homemade British dishes and a variety of beverages, including cask-conditioned real ales. Situated near picturesque walks and St James' Church, we welcome dogs, horses, and well-behaved children to our large, safe garden. Perfect for hosting country-style wedding receptions, christenings, or any celebration, we also host summer hog roast and BBQ events.

Feedback
We visited for a valentines meal having previously been to the Queen's Oak. There were items on the menu unavailable, which was a shame as due to allergies it left me quite limited. The calves live whist tasting nice was quite sinewy, my husbands food was lovely (apparently : What ruined the evening for us both was hearing the older waitress moaning about me when we left. This was extremely unprofessional and rude. £85 spent (one starter 2 mains and 2 glasses of wine to be insulted is not acceptable. Suffice to say we won't bother returning and wouldn't recommend to friends.
There were 6 of us dining here today and we all thoroughly enjoyed everything we had. The food was wonderful. The staff were very efficient, friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was great with a lovely open fire. We will be back soon. Thank you.
This country pub has a charming family atmosphere and is located in a beautiful area. Despite the roadworks in Finchampstead, it is easy to find your way to the pub from any direction. I highly recommend it.
First time in the area (for leisure that is), staying at local touring park (California Touring Park). Unfortunately it was pouring down with rain on our walk to the pub, and to make matters worse, we didn’t realise there was a cross country short cut off ‘Nine Mile Ride’! So, 2 mile walk on the way there in the rain, 1/2 mile return trip and it had stopped raining. Anyway, about the pub….. superb! A lovely pub divided into two sections a smaller dining area/snug, and a larger dining area/main bar. We ate in the smaller snug area. Excellent food (Chicken Burger and Fish Chips). Great hospitality, particularly from the landlady and the barmaid who served us initially. Good beer Birra Moretti and crisp dry rose wine. Prices commensurate with today’s economy! Certainly not cheap, but more like expected! If we have time, we will return tomorrow before our trip home to Canterbury. Thank you.
