Pleasant place to be for a meal and a chat. Front of house staff work hard to make sure you are happy but sometimes let down by mistakes by the kitchen. This restaurant in Wokingham is absolutely charming. The food is exquisite, the staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is fantastic. I dined in for lunch, and the cost per person was between £20 and £30. I would rate the food, service, and atmosphere all at 5 stars. Highly recommended!

I had an excellent experience at Chalk for Christmas lunch! The food was fantastic, and the staff were outstanding. I highly recommend this place to everyone. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: £60–70.
This place is well presented and has a nice decor etc. I felt like a 2nd class citizen though, we were not welcomed warmly with my wife on a Valentines lunch. We were bruskly taken to our table with no 'niceties '. My wife was told bruskly that her preferred option was not available and we were tossed a shabby menu with the items crossed out that weren 't available. My wife felt pressure to choose another option on the spot, the guy gave us an impatient impression. Sorry but it 's just not nice and spoilt the mood. My second trip and not impressed with the service. The food is ... fine. I did note that he was happy joking with another couple, perhaps we didn 't look the part? Will not be going again.
