Disappointing. Booked afternoon tea they had no idea we had booked. Scones were raw. Waitress disappeared. Offered replacement scones after complaint. Not very good.
What an amazing place, and it was empty! So I got a great meal and a glass of wine with amazing service!
The main course, the pan-seared seabass, didn't quite match the exceptional standard set by the starter, but it was still enjoyable and beautifully presented. The five-spice dressing complemented the other ingredients perfectly, and the salad was fresh and flavorful. The dessert truly stole the show. While I was initially underwhelmed by the individual flavors of the Black Forest dessert, once I began to mix them together on the plate, I was blown away. I can honestly say it was the best dessert I've had in years. Overall, my experience was very positive, and I would highly recommend this restaurant for a variety of occasions. I visited while staying at the adjacent Cantley House Hotel on a business trip, but this place is also ideal for casual meals or gatherings with friends.
THIS IS NOT THE RESTAURANT OF THE INCIDENT WITH THE DISABLED MAN! THE ONE YOU‘RE LOOKING FOR IS IN CANADA. I‘m sorry you‘re getting the angry comments. :
The restaurant is situated in a lovely setting, adjacent to Cantley House itself. It has been beautifully renovated from an old stall, maintaining charming original features like steel stack dividers and wooden beams. We enjoyed an afternoon tea that came with a complimentary glass of Pimm's. The food was delightful, although we were disappointed to find that the Eton mess was unavailable. Upon requesting a replacement, the chef apologized and adjusted our bill for the sour cream. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience. While it was reasonably priced, the £20 per person for afternoon tea still felt a bit on the pricey side.
