Excellent standard of food, choice of dishes and perfect flavours, definitely top choice for both take away and eat in Chinese cuisine. Service is brilliant, polite and friendly with a relaxed approach. Made our anniversary special with sparkling desert and ‘happy anniversary’ banner next to our table. Highly recommended. What Vivian Yanina Pinto Figueroa dislikes about Chef Peking:
**Meal Type:** Dinner **Price per Person:** £20–30 **Food Rating:** 2/5 **Service Rating:** 3/5 **Atmosphere Rating:** 2/5 I recently dined at this restaurant for dinner, and unfortunately, my experience was underwhelming. The food didn't meet my expectations, earning a rating of just 2 out of 5. While the service was somewhat better, with a rating of 3, it still lacked the attentiveness I had hoped for. The atmosphere was also disappointing, coming in at a 2. Overall, I found my visit to be lacking in several aspects.

This is the best Chinese restaurant in Wokingham. After searching the town centre for a restaurant we all agreed on, we decided to drive out. Unable to agree on a place in town, we heard about Chef Peking from a local passerby. I called ahead before driving and despite being very busy, they managed to squeeze us in. Arriving at the restaurant, we found it packed to the rafters, a sign that often means quality and service suffer. However, this was not the case at Chef Peking. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful from the moment we walked in. We were quickly seated and the service throughout was excellent. The staff were all very friendly, polite, and helpful. Our waiter even recommended the amount of rice we should order so we wouldn't waste any. The hot and sour soup, chicken and sweet corn soup, and spring rolls were all top quality. Our main dishes of sweet and sour chicken and Thai red duck curry were the best I've had since visiting China years ago. If you're in the area, I highly recommend a visit to Chef Peking.

"The best Chinese restaurant in town! We were looking for a place in the city center for a party of four and decided to try Koch Peking after hearing rave reviews from a local chef. Despite being very busy, the restaurant managed to accommodate us when we called ahead. Upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised to find the restaurant packed to the rafters, but the quality of food and service did not suffer. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive from the moment we walked in. Our waiter recommended some dishes and the service was excellent. We had a great dining experience at Koch Peking and highly recommend it!"

After reviewing the menu, we decided to go for a 'running buffet' and shared a variety of dishes, reordering every ten minutes or so. I asked everyone to rate each dish on a scale of 1 to 5, and every main dish received a perfect score of 5, except for the Szechuan Prawns, which got a 5.5, and the sizzling spicy chicken, which scored a 6! The rice and noodles were all delicious—fluffy, tasty, and well-seasoned—but we gave them all a rating of 4 simply because the mains were exceptional. The standout dishes were the Char Siew (honey pork), which we ended up ordering three times, and the sizzling hot spicy chicken, which we ordered twice. It had a delightful kick of heat, was tender and moist, and had a wonderful sauce—even though I tried to manage the scores, they rated it a 6! The Szechuan prawns were plump, firm, and cooked to perfection, and they scored a very hard-fought 5.5, with just the right amount of heat. One of the boys was a bit picky, but we requested a serving of Singaporean noodles without vegetables for him without any hassle. This isn’t just average food; it’s really good, and it comes out quickly, looks appealing, and tastes fantastic—reflecting its price. We also tried the 'wine by the glass' options. The white Chilean Sauvignon Blanc paired well with the food, while I enjoyed an Australian Shiraz that complemented the beef, pork, and spicy dishes nicely. The Italian 'Blush' rosé was also a hit. We're already planning to return on Monday with another group of six to explore more of the menu, and I’m genuinely looking forward to it. If you truly appreciate good food, I highly recommend trying Chef Peking!
