Cattle. Steakhouse - Woking
Cattle. Steakhouse
Description
The restaurant received a mix of reviews, with some customers enjoying their meals and the overall experience, while others were left disappointed. Some complained about the lack of specific menu items and slow service, with one customer even mentioning a mistake in their reservation location. However, there were positive notes as well, such as good steak quality, friendly staff, and a nice discount for theatre-goers. Inconsistent food quality, limited menu options, and underwhelming drinks were also mentioned by customers, with some expressing hesitance to return. Despite the mixed feedback, it appears that the restaurant still has potential for improvement in terms of menu variety, service efficiency, and overall dining experience.

This restaurant needs to rethink how it handles its bookings, I had booked a table for 4 and was told when I got there that they could lay a table up for me or we could sit on a table for 6, whereby the people infront of me hadnt booked and were shown to a table of 4!!!?? We waited an hour for our food! The service was appalling as was the food it wasnt cooked properly! Rather than the staff tell people they couldnt accomodate them before the theatre they kept taking people in and seating them down, when everyone needed to be fed and the bills paid by the same time!! The restaurant was full of theatre goers..??? They should have stated at the door that if you are going to the theatre we cant guarantee that you will be served in time, instead greed got the better of them and they kept seating people!! Most of the restaurant that night complained and were given discounts because of the awful service, my party didnt have time to finish our meals, people left without getting their food, on a table of 3 next to me- 2 people had almost finished theire meal whilst the third hadnt even got theirs!! I will try the restaurant again and hope they have got their act together next time, but if thats not the case we wont be back and wont recommend it!!!
3 of us went for an early dinner on a Thursday night (6-7.30) and were very happy with our experience. I can highly recommend going early mid-week as we pretty much had the place to ourselves to start with, so had very attentive and quick service, and the food came out quickly and piping hot. Our server was helpful and friendly and several other staff checked on us throughout the meal. They have Happy Hour cocktails (2 for 1) until 7pm Mon-Thurs so we tried a few of these and they were really good and well made. We also asked if we could share a malteaser milkshake between the 3 of us, and they kindly split it equally into 3 glasses, each decorated with squirty cream. Really nice flavour, but unfortunately not very thick. We shared 2 halloumi starters which were both really good and hot. Then we went for the Chicken Steaks, and a Rump Steak and you can choose how it comes, with a choice of sauces, and choice of sides. Again came out well done and the chips were boiling hot. Would happily come again and the menu is so large that there will always be something new to try.
We arrived with plenty of time before our theater show, but after waiting a while, we had to ask for someone to take our drink orders. They didn't have Strongbow on tap and had run out of Prosecco. We also had to request someone to take our food order as time was running short. Once we did place our order, we had to follow up on it because we were quickly running out of time to eat without feeling uncomfortable. The chargrilled vegetable side was subpar. Overall, it was a disappointing experience; however, the bill was adjusted. It seemed they were very short-staffed on a Saturday night, especially given their location near a theater.
Service was unbelievably slow, took ten minutes after we were seated to be brought a menu, a further ten minutes for the waitress to get the order correct and a further thirty minutes for us to receive our food and even then the order was incorrect. The burgers were edible, just, but the fries were awful. After we’d eaten I repeatedly asked if the table could be cleared, after the third time of asking I literally had to clear it myself. My granddaughter had to phone me from the toilet to ask me to bring her tissue and hand sanitiser because the toilet roll holder was empty and there was no soap, even if she had been able to wash her hands the dryer wasn’t working and there were no paper towels. I sort out the waitress and mentioned the toilets needed replenishing but she was totally disinterested. The restaurant wasn’t busy so I feel there was no excuse. I had visited Cattle at the previous location in Woking and was more than satisfied.
