What Anonym dislikes about Ton Co:
The ox tongue melts in your mouth like a piece of fatty wagyu! I was expecting the usual tougher texture with a bit more bite but this is a better version. Very generous portions.Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 5/5 …More View all feedback.

Went with a mate of mine, I ordered the pork rib eye cut tonkatsu which came with tonkatsu sauce and side of white cabbage and honey sesame sauce and he ordered the rib eye with ebi katsu (prawn) cutlet. Also ordered ox tongue skewers and chicken thigh skewers. The tonkatsu meat was delicious, not dry, tender, full of flavor, good fat content with that crumb, was superb, the tonkatsu sauce was balanced with sweet and sour and the honey sesame sauce that came with the cabbage was the best sesame dressing I’ve ever had. The ox tongue which was an 18hr cook the best I’ve had and I’ve had a fair few, this one was nice and tender, each mouthful was heaven with that tare sauce, togarashi and sesame oil. The chicken thigh was good but if I had to order skewers again I’d go with ox tongue. Overall I found this place excellent, service was excellent, they apologized for the rush as it was getting busy which was fine. I’d definitely come back

The food here is excellent and very authentic; it brings back memories of my time in Japan. The service is great as well. I ordered the takeaway pork tonkatsu with rice and miso, and it was delicious.

This restaurant serves not just authentic Japanese cuisine, but A+ quality Japanese food as well. If you're craving Tonkatsu, you can't go wrong here—it's the best Melbourne has to offer.

This place used to be one of my favourite restaurants—it once served the best tonkatsu I’d ever had. Unfortunately, it’s gone downhill, and the quality has dropped significantly. I ordered my old favourites: the ox tongue skewers and the pork striploin with kaki. The skewers, which used to melt in my mouth, were now dry and tough. One of the kaki pieces had an unpleasantly fishy taste, though the other was still decent. The tonkatsu was the biggest disappointment. What was once an exceptional dish is now dry and chewy, with some pieces so tough due to tendon that I had to spit them out. It was also overcooked, leaving the crumb with a bitter aftertaste. Even the little details have changed—cabbage, which used to be free for refills, now costs $2 for a small bowl. I don’t think I’ll be returning. I travelled 40 minutes to enjoy a meal here but ended up wasting both time and money. Time to find a new go-to tonkatsu spot in Melbourne. Food: 1 Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $40–60
